Daily Trojan

Hi everyone :)

Can anyone tell me how hard it is to get a position at the Daily Trojan second semester? I want to join next semester...or is there a way I can start this semester? Also, if anyone is on the staff right now...can you fill me in on the hours and how much time it takes?

Thanks!

I don't think you will be able to join this late in the term. There will be an open staff meeting at the start of next semester where you can fill out paperwork and meet with the editors of sections for which you would like to work.

I believe the positions fill up and the editors stop accepting students within the first few weeks. However, if you are there the first day and are visible, I think you can probably get a spot. It also helps if you have previous experience working for a newspaper.

My understanding is that some sections fill up faster and are forced to turn away more writers. I think the entertainment and opinion pages are the most oversubscribed.

I'm a copy editor, and the minimum is two hours a week.
