Was anyone else nominated for the Dana Associates Honors Program?

yea i was i was just about to post here lol
i'm not really sure what it is, can anyone describe it?

My daughter received a letter today nominating her to apply for the Dana Scholars program. She will be writing yet another essay! Not sure exactly what this program would be like, but she really liked Muhlenberg at our visit in the fall, so might as well try for the Dana Scholars right?

My D got the letter yesterday as well! Loved the ps!

Have you all been accepted to Muhl. already, or do they nominate you for the Dana Program before offering admission?

They nominate you before acceptance (at least for RD kids). My daughter did not apply ED since we will need to wait for financial information before making a final decision about college. However, the Dana Associates letter says she was invited to apply for that program based on her application and there is a P.S. which states "Students sometimes ask, "Does this mean I'm accepted?" Although we have not mailed Regular Decision letters yet, it's fair to interpret this as a "good sign."" So she's excited!

The Muhlenberg Course Catalog describes the program as " a four year experience with first year seminar, independent research, internship, and senior capstone (Dana forum) components for outstanding students"

My parents love Berg and they were really happy about the $4,000 scholarship.

Daughter received her invitation to be a Dana Associate in the mail today. Now we wait for the financial aid package. But she was honored to receive this letter for sure. Anyone else hear yet?

Yay, nydancemom and nydancemom's very deserving kid! :) So glad to hear she's received this honor. Muhlenberg is a wonderful school, and I know your d likes it a lot (and she'd bring a lot to the school if she went there). Fingers crossed that the finaid package is just what you're hoping for.

My son received the President's Scholarship with his acceptance but there was no mention of the Dana Associates Program ( he did the essay in early March when he was invited into the program).

Does that mean he was not accepted into the Dana Program? Has anyone been accepted into the program yet?

My D just got her letter of acceptance to the Dana Program yesterday. She got her acceptance letter several days after others had reported acceptances. Not sure if they mailed in waves or if our mail is just slow.

Our daughter got her acceptance letter early last week. The acceptance to Dana Associates came in a large envelope on Friday the 21st. On Saturday, she got a small envelope with a letter telling her she is getting a Presidential scholarship. We have not heard from financial aid yet, so don't know what her total package will look like.

yes, I was selected as a Dana associate...two of my friends were also offered a spot. I am confused though...both of them recieved the presidential scholarships a day later, and I have heard nothing about merit. Am I the only Dana associate not recieving merit aid?

OK, now I'm totally confused. Maybe someone here can straighten this out for me. My DS was invited to apply to the Dana program back in January or February. He did not submit an essay by the March deadline, so I just figured that he would not be eligible for the Dana program.

On Saturday we received a big envelope congratulating him on being accepted to some kind of Muhlenberg honors program that comes with a $4K stipend. So I figured that maybe Muhlenberg has several different honors programs, of which Dana is just one.

Then today, my DS' friend, who was also invited to apply for a Dana slot (and did so; he DID submit the essay required by the March deadline), received a presidential dollar amount but has NOT received acceptance to the Dana program.

This is all confusing to me. Maybe someone here can clarify all this. Thanks in advance.

yineyes... the same thing that happened to your daughter happened to mine also. She did not apply to the Dana Associates, although she had been invited to. Then right around the time of her acceptance letter into the school, she was invited to be a Muhlenberg Scholar, with the merit award attached to the invitation. My daughter was also given a Muhlenberg Presidential Scholarship; none of the awards came in the same envelope, nor from what I remember, the same day. Needless to say, we were in awe of the Muhlenberg Scholar, as she hadn't applied for it. But in truth, the timing of the application due date for the Dana was horrible for us, and she just didn't manage to get it done, so we felt like we dodged a bullet on that one when the Muhlenberg Scholar award arrived.

what type of scores, grades did you need to get? my son was denied dana scholarship but is in top 10% of his class for grades, sat, etc. do you know about the other honor programs and know which is better?

I would also like to know about the stats of the students that received these scholarships…I just want to see what her chances are for next year.

Congrats to all honor students!!!

D2 had a 35 ACT and weighted GPA around 4.2; quite a few honors/AP classes; National Merit Finalist. She also interviewed on campus. I think she was in the 3-4% of her class. Also got a perfect on the writing portion of the SAT.

Did anyone get invited to Dana Associates Program this year?

Yes, my S received an invite yesterday. He is excited about the opportunity… not so much about writing yet another essay!
