Dance at Otterbein

Question regarding dance at Otterbein: in the past I know the students were leveled into basic, intermediate and advanced levels and studied ballet, jazz, tap and modern. Is it still done this way? Do the MT students dance every day? Four days a week? Do the MT + dance minors do more dance, or study other facets of dance like choreography? Any info would help. Thanks!

I heard that they dance everyday with having Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Modern pretty much every week.

Just saw this. All the BFA performance majors and dance minors dance every day. Ballet twice a week, Modern, Jazz, and Tap. After freshman year, the Acting majors can decide to keep dancing or not. They are leveled every semester into basic, intermediate, int/advanced, or advanced.

@CalebAM, @theatremom16, Thank you both-information much appreciated!

From info session - dance 5 days a week (8am) all 4 years (acting only students take dance at least freshman year as well). 2 days ballet, 1 tap, 1 jazz and 1 modern/hip hop/other. Leveled in each so could be intermediate ballet and beginner tap.

@theatremom16 do you know what the dance options are for acting majors who want to continue dancing after freshman year? Can they take the same classes as MT students? If they wanted would it be possible for them to be dancing every day? Thanks in advance

Yes, you may take dance class every year after freshman year, and they dance M-F. As mentioned above, the classes may be leveled so you will be with a mix of Acting/MT depending on your skill level.
