Otterbein vs Millikin for a Minor in Dance

Does anyone have any thoughts on either of these programs? Daughter was accepted into both programs, but haven't been able to visit yet?

I don’t know anything about Mililin, but Otterbein let her participate in a dance class - most advanced ballet, and then she attended the dance program rehearsal. It was a very important information in her decision making.

I also do not know anything about Milliken but know Otterbein very well. They have an excellent theatre department that is very well respected. Many alum are working professionals in theatre. They do not offer a dance major but their dance program is excellent. My DD danced with someone who will be attending there this fall and will be minoring in dance.

Thanks for the responses keepingcalm and Lammb66! My daughter will be visiting Otterbein in a couple weeks, we have heard lots of great things about the dance and program as a whole. I’m pretty sure she will be attending here in the Fall as a Dance Minor. She had actually auditioned for a BFA MT concentration in dance at Otterbein, since she is a dancer/actress who sings well. She was offered the Dance Minor instead of MT. I guess this makes sense and she can still train in voice and take theater classes. Their dance minors also get to audition for the musicals there too! I like the fact that they dance every day, 2 days of ballet one Jazz and one Tap or musical theater style. DD loves to Tap too! Seems hard to find dance programs that incorporate Tap, although all musical theater programs do. Best wishes for your kids!

Personally I feel that Otterbein would be the better choice. Let us know what she picks to do!

I know many of the dance teachers at Otterbein, it is an excellent program.
