Dance Major at Elon?

Hi! I'm a senior from Western NC with Elon as my current first choice and I'm planning on auditioning with a jazz solo for the dance program in November. Do I have a chance at acceptance and financial aid?

Rank: 43/168
GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1710 (retaking in oct)
ACT: 25 (retaking in oct)
11 on essay!
Taken Honors English all four years, 2 honors math, 3 honors science including chem, apush
Only one c on my transcript (apush)
Danced for ten years, received tons of individual and group specialty awards, recently studied ballet at UNLV summer intensive and assistant teacher at DEA dance workshops (taught Peyton and senior dancers from Dance Moms!)
Tons of extracurriculars

Of course You have a chance. Elon puts together a freshman class every year, and not everyone in a class looks like the “average” student. The trick is to remember that your trying to represent the best “You”. That means STUDY HARD for your SAT / ACT and/or have a great audition, and therefore a teacher at Elon that will fight for you.

As far as financial aid… Well you should look at the FA calculator on the Elon Website and see what happens. With “only 1 C and a 3.4 gpa”, I assume that your weighed gpa will be higher, so remember that Elon will use the NC standard of weighing by adding +1 for honors and +2 for AP. You should look to your Dance for outside scholarships.

Have a great Sr. year…
