dances...

Hey, I was just wondering what the down-low is on BS dances. I mean, do they only have a prom, or does it just depend on the school?
Specifically, I'm wondering about the cases for Exeter, Deerfield, and Lawrenceville--thanks!

Exeter has tons of dances. Few are good (although the Winter Formal is quite fun, and open to all grades). Relatively few upperclassmen go, though.

i've been to a dance at exeter, and it wasn't too bad. no one really goes for the whole thing since you're free to leave and exit whenever you want. the kids dance a lot raunchier and dirtier than kids at a regular public school, which was a surprise haha.

"the kids dance a lot raunchier and dirtier than kids at a regular public school, which was a surprise haha."

There was a complaint about that at my son's school (a student told her mother); the dean promised to see that there was more supervision and, in particular, some freshman-only dances. My son did tell me, that it was no different than in his public hs.

My son's school has a formal every year which is the equivalent of a prom. They also have a few semi's. They just had one, and it was very nicely done with excellent food (per my son) and beautiful decorations including ice sculptures.

Go to the school's website and check out their calendars. The dances should be listed as part of the student life.

wow, really?! a lot raunchier-whew.
okay then...that threw me off just a bit! haha

Me too! Can I take a rain check on those dances? haha

I'm having a hard time imagining dancing much raunchier than what goes on in my high school. LOL!

I find dances rather awkard and raunchy (I go to an all girls school, we go to dances with all guys and other all girls schools). A bunch of opposite--starved teenagers are thrown together in a crowded, loud room for several hours where they attempt to make up for the fact that they never get to see members of the opposite sex. Awkward, lots of raunchy dancing, and not really the place to meet people.

You haven't lived 'til you've been to a "mixer" at Avon Old Farms, Salisbury, Trinity-Pawling or South Kent.

So what's the deal with the Prom? Is it for only seniors, seniors and juniors, or what? (Specif. Exeter)

For Exeter, the prom is only for seniors unless you get invited by a senior.

Thacher has a UnProm!

UnProm??

tenchar

yeah what's unprom?

Middlesex's dances sound awesome. Random dance, not so random dance, foam dance...

unprom is a "prom" without a prom style. Like everybody doesn't dance like you do in a prom, the food might be different, etc. or so I've heard lol
it basically means it's not formal really lol
