someone somewhere said that finalists will get letters first week of march lol i love how vague that was.

Well if you log in on the aplication status site, it says that both the scholarships I applied for (including Danforth) were complete and being reviewed. No other confirmation than that.

Invitations for Scholars Interview weekend (Danforth, Ervin, Rodriguez) are being finalized and should be going out in the next 7 - 10 days. Semi finalists will be invited for a weekend at WashU, where finalists will be chosen. WashU picks up all expenses for Scholars Interview weekend.

What about interviews for the university scholars program?

My daughter was nominated by her counselor for Danforth and received a letter stating such. However when she checks under scholarship it only shows that she is being reviewed for the Mylonas. Does this mean she is no longer in the running for the Danforth??

dte, I hope I am not breaking any news to you, but the nomination is the first step, then there is an application required also. That was due 1/15. If that was received, it should indicate so on the page you are checking. If you sent it in and do not see it listed, you should call.

If you missed the application, take heart that many, many kids are nominated/apply, and only a few receive the award. My impression, and I am not an expert, is that it is mostly kids who could go H-Y-P but accept Wash U for the scholarship.

Thank You. I called the school. They said they never received the Danforth Application. They received the Mylonas and the regular app. My d says she did it all at the same time. She also has applied to several Ivies but we were hoping for the scholarship. Very disappointing.

Ouch. That is disappointing. Still Mylonas is a good option. And there are other awards sometimes offered to those who applied for the named scholarships.

You might ask them to please look at the materials again just to understand what went wrong. Perhaps you might get some sympathy consideration.

just got accepted as an emory scholar finalist so i'm supposed to fly down there from march 26-29 to interview...

reallly really would love to go to washU though, applied for danforth and lien. i know the days for the lien interviews is april 3-6, anyone know about danforth so that i can know if there's a conflict? i haven't heard yet, and am not sure when i will, but it would be really helpful to know if its during the same days, in the small chance that i am asked for an interview....

As usual Emory & WashU do the Ervin, Danforth & Rodriguez the same weekend as Emory - March 27 -30. If you get nvited to both, you have to choose which one to go to, since attendance is required to be considered as a finalist.

this is slightly off-topic and may be annoying to some, but wow, I am so mad I didn't apply for danforth. frankly, I knew nothing about it, and how would I? If I weren't on CC, I would have never had any clue about it! Why does Wash U keep it so secret? It makes no sense!

It' the only one you have to be nominated for. So if you were not nominated, you could not apply anyway.

I managed to get myself nominated - heard it from someone at my school the day before it was due. Had to fedex the letter. ;)

So, I was just wondering, for the short essays they are expecting about 150 words? And about how many words for the long essay? 500 or so?

Did anyone apply for a scholarship and not get accepted to the school? I would assume that doing the additional work for the scholarship also conveys demonstrated interest.
