@factoryboylol Sameness here means equal fit as a result of the holistic process, where only 1 of the 2 can be taken in. An interview is never a tiebraker, but helps in giving clearer perspectives to solve the sitch.
All things are never equal, and rarely “close to”.
agreed @skieurope
Yeah. I agree @skieurope
I explained that none of the factors can individually be equal, and the numbers may rarely be so, but as an overall fit, the dispute may arise.
I read a lot of posts on Reddit, specific to Dartmouth, about how interviews do not matter, but I felt my Dartmouth interview, which was with a senior who is currently at Dartmouth (and she works with the Admissions Office as a Fellow), will play a significant role in assessing my application (or I would like to think so). Because there was so much left unsaid in the essays and all the supplements, which I had the chance to express in the interview.
@financekid123 You received another FA email today?
I was emailed a few days ago asking to submit a form directly to Dartmouth regarding income. It wasn’t any federal agency.
Hello Dartmouth Hopeduls! Good luck to all! DD is as well. She also applied to Cornell and received what we understand is called a LikelyLetter from Cornell. This am she received an email from Cornell telling her the admission decisions would be posted March 28th at 7pm. Did anyone receive an email like that from Dartmouth? Just wondering if not receiving an email from Dartmouth means anything.
yes got that email from Dartmouth last week. I assumed everyone did. Check spam folder…
Hi Northern! Good luck to your DD. My DD received a few of these emails letting her know about the 3/28 7 pm posting (I cannot recall which schools). I am not taking it as a sign at all; I assume it was mass emailed out. Some may go to junk/spam folders. Do not be discouraged by lack of such an email. Good luck!
@homerdog and @EmptyNestSoon2 Thank you! We did find the Dartmouth email so no intrigue there. Sorry to all about the typo. That should have read Hopefuls! The only ivies DD applied to were Cornell and Dartmouth. What a ride! Good luck to all!
Yeah. I agree @skieurope

@financekid123 Of course it wasnt any of that, and it was D who told u to. What i said still applies.
How much do you all think legacy matters when a Dartmouth admissions officer reads applications? I saw online that around 15-20% of the incoming class are legacies and the legacy admit rate is 20-25%, which kinda coincides with the percentage I previously mentioned I tons of alums in my family, my grandfather donated a fair bit and everyone from my dad up to my dad’s grandfather attended. I think people that far back don’t matter. I think it would just be donations and my dad. I’m pretty nervous in anticipation for tomorrow because I have gotten rejections from 3 of my schools I applied to (Northwestern, BU, Occidental). My stats (gpa, ACT, extracurriculars) are on the lower edge but still acceptable. Best of luck! Should’ve applied ED
@jhede1 It matters, considerably, though not at an alarmingly large rate. It’s definitely an edge in the overall process.
Appreciate it! I definitely agree with you, @TheGuy1! Feel free to let me know about anything relevant while we’re on this topic!
@jhede1 Definitely.
do you guys have your mid-year report listed on your checklist in your portal?
@dreamthief001 Nope. D doesnt track it. Some do, some dont. Hence some differences. Idk why, but well, it is what it is. But u can either go on commonapp (if u applied via there), go to the FERPA req. section in the D uni section, and check if its been downloaded. Or a simple email to the adcom asking this suffices.
Signup for UPS and put in your address information if you want to find out whether or not you’re in. If you see a package from the “Dartmouth Admissions Office”, congratulations, if not (like me), you were either rejected or waitlisted. This worked for someone on reddit.
