@financekid123 Unfortunately, it is. My grades during that period aren’t great due to missing assignments and my counselor SENT a progress report with the bad grades. Luckily, they asked for quarter grades and our schools runs on a semester system. My counselor called them and managed to intercept the report before it was uploaded and got it removed. They said it was ok and that they will wait until December 14 when grades are ready.
@YouTellMe Here’s what the student said:
“Dartmouth recently emailed my guidance counselor and asked to see my first marking period grades before they make a final admissions decision. Is this procedural for all applicants, or does this indicate that they are split between accept/defer or defer/reject, and are going to use my latest grades as a deciding factor?”
So I don’t actually think it would be sent to all applicants…
@AudreyKang That’s a pretty interesting phrasing. I remember my counselor showing the email to me and it basically said that updated grades can be submitted through the optional report and that first quarter grades are to be sent by 11/18/2018 (I think?).
Also, did you ask your counselor about it?
I didn’t get the email from Dartmouth about first marking period grades, and my guidance counselor hasn’t contacted me since I submitted my application. So maybe it’s not procedural for all applicants?
Good luck everyone!
Has anyone else been obsessively watching college decision reaction videos on Youtube or is it just me
@Meiyonnaise AHHH YES! It feels so futile and is an enormous waste of time… and yet they call to me and I cannot resist.
@YouTellMe @AudreyKang Sorry for the delay in seeing these questions about my post. This is copied exactly from the email my counselor sent me: “I received an email from Dartmouth that they need to review your first marking period grades before making an admissions decision.” My question was based off that, and I assumed that it’s asked of all applicants. I hope that helps clear things up.
I’ve literally watched 6 acceptance compilations today, it’s addicting.
@2023hopeful Oh. Did you notice any change in your applicant portal though? Like date changes in Transcript report date?
My counselor said she got an email a couple weeks ago asking for my progress report. On my common app account it says my first marking period grades were downloaded two weeks ago.
watching rejection videos instead. Seeing how people cope and react when they get deferred/rejected so I can prepare myself
Any internationals here?
Haha @MyGPAIsAnL been doing the same thing.
Yeah @Milo321
@YouTellMe No, the portal still displays the original upload date.
@hapisjoy did you get an email from the financial aid office about how if you didn’t apply for aid, you need to submit it by December 3rd to get funding?
Just out of curiosity, what majors are you guys interested in at Dartmouth? I’m thinking of pursuing some combination of government, economics, and philosophy
Im planning on Biomedical enginnering with a minor in studio art.
