Hey! I'm a current 14 at Dartmouth and I'm posting this question here mainly because it's Thanksgiving break (hope everybody's enjoying the rest) and nobody on my floor knows the answer.

I've booked tickets to and from the school for my winter break on the Amtrak. Amtrak's really convenient for me because I can get off the train in Trenton and be at my house within 20 minutes. It's not convenient for me because I can't figure out how to get to/from the train station from Dartmouth. I know a cab is feasible, but being a broke college student, that's my last option. I've been looking at the Advance Transit site, but I can't seem to find a stop at the train station. Whether that's because the stop doesn't exist or because I'm almost legally blind...

Any alums or upperclassmen want to help me out?

Oh, and to any prospies reading this... good luck to you! Dartmouth's a great place, and I encourage you to come take a visit to check it out for yourself. Don't stress out too much about the apps- in the end, it'll all work out.

You might consider taking Dartmouth Coach to Boston and picking up Amtrak there. The train to White River Junction is a milk run (and takes a LOONG time to NY).

Thanks guys! Talked to a few friends that live near me and are back home for break- they advised me to take the Big Yellow Cab. $10+ tip, pick up from dorm room/train station. It’s actually quite a bit better than I expected. Probably split the cost with a friend that’s coming up on the same train as me the 3rd.

Another option for the future is to take the Dartmouth Coach to NYC- it stops in midtown near Grand Central- then you can take the subway or walk to Penn Station and pick up NJ Transit to Trenton. NJ Transit is cheaper than Amtrak and runs more frequently to Trenton. You might even find a stop closer to where you live.

You can pick it up right on campus. If you get the luxury bus ($75) ot will be a much nicer ride.

Once you get to Grand Central, take the cross town shuttle to times square. then take the downtown 1, 2 or 3 one stop to Penn station and pick up NJ transit.

meowmix - you can’t split the cost with a friend because its a van and they charge $10 per person, no matter how many people get on. even so, like your friends said, it’s probably your best bet. you can do advance transit orange route as well but it has a pretty infrequent schedule and IIRC you end up having to get into West Leb an hour before the train gets there (and then you have to kill an hour in boring old West Leb).
