I can only hope. I am first generation though, I don’t know how much that helps.

Still can’t believe it’s this Thursday!!

Me neither. I was really hyped up during the weekend, but now it’s losing reality lol. To my surprise I’m actually having a relatively peaceful week… though come Thursday, I’ll probably be hyperventilating again with you guys ;)

Haha same with me! It’ll be like waiting until 12am for act and 5am for sat scores with trembling hands

Waiting for SATs was definitely the second most stressful thing I’ve been through… right after this lol. I remember sitting down in front of the computer at 3 pm and just mentally breaking down on fb until the results came at 8 (different time zone, plus CB crashed and I had to wait for another hour)

I remember waiting until 2 in the morning for my ACT scores, then jumping up and down when I got them, lol.

Cirroalex, the same thing happened to me last time. I refreshed the page at 11:59 then saw the scores then freaked out I was so happy

Does anyone know anything about Dartmouth and first-generation students? Do they prefer them in anyway, in a legacy-type fashion? I know that First-gen makes up 10% of the 2016 class, but does anyone know anymore?

Being first generation is a good thing! If you watch the Dartmouth Class of 2016 or 2015 they make sure to highlight the percentage of first generation students they have. Dartmouth has a freshmen program specifically geared to first generation students too!

I’m confused, I applied to Dartmouth ED by november 1st and my interviewer just contacted me today and we set up a date for wednesday… but the results come out thursday, does this mean interviews don’t count at all? Or that they already accepted/denied/deferred me?

Does having a sibling who attended qualify me as a legacy at all?

I guess any sort of hook, whether it be URM status, first gen or legacy all help a bit in the admissions process, some more than others, some less. It will be advantageous, of course, but maybe not as much as the other two I mentioned. At least I didn’t hear about it that much, so that might be just me ;)

A sibling does not count as legacy at Dartmouth. Legacy at Dartmouth is a parent who attended Dartmouth College as an undergraduate and got a degree.

I’m pretty sure.

I think so too. I have a friend whose sister went to another Ivy League school, and she said that it doesn’t really matter that much.

Quick question: Did any of you receive any acceptances from other schools yet? I’m not nervous at all for thursday, but maybe it’s just because I already got two acceptances, one being a full ride. If you didn’t send in any apps yet, just remember that you’ll reveive plenty of acceptances soon! You’re all amazing candidates, and tons of schools would be lucky to have you! Hang in there :)

Dartmouth will be the first school I hear back from! Hopefully I won’t need to hear from any other school.

I’m with magenta on that one, greengirl! I hope it’ll be my first and only college acceptance :)

I got accepted from a domestic university last month, but since I’ll have to relinquish it within a few weeks (I’m pretty sure I’ll be going to the U.S.) I guess it doesn’t count.

As for other schools in the US, I totally screwed up my UC and USC apps lol! I was freaking out over Dartmouth last Friday when people began to talk about how results were coming out this week, and I definitely didn’t put my best foot forward. Oh well, I guess I’ll be looking at a lot of other schools too so… ;)

Ahhhh you’re all so optimistic! I’m trying to force myself to write my upenn essays right now but it’s so hard!

Don’t succumb to defeat yet greengirl!
