I think we will hear on the 6th. I mean, they made it official didn’t they?

I think the email response may be automated in a way.

I think the email response may be automated in a way.

That might be right. Other EDers are probably freaking out about notifications too. They’ve probably had the same question asked multiple times.

Well, at the very most I hope I can hear the results before the next week. I mean if it comes out during the weekend, I can at least curl up in my room awhile :(

My friend told me that last year they weren’t emailed about the notification date or if they were it happened much later than it was posted online. It is posted there officially–it will be out on Thursday. I’m sure of it.

Good to hear! Thursday it is boys and girls :)

Guys, this isn’t funny anymore…I literally cannot hear the word Dartmouth without seeing REJECTION next to it

Wait did Dartmouth announce the results for Thursday? Where are people getting the 6th from?

@Aspirare I feel ya… Im going through bouts of anxiety. One minute i’ll think for sure that i’m going to get accepted then the next, i’m depressed

@miceman Check you status in your login, it says it there.

You should see this message:

We are now in the final stages of our review process and will soon be notifying you of our decision on your candidacy. Please note: the notification process is paperless.
We appreciate your interest in Dartmouth.

Sincerely,

The Dartmouth Admissions Staff

Hello Guys

I am an international applicant from Mongolia. I have been just visiting and reading posts for months. But today, when I found Dartmouth ED Class of 2017 thread, I wanted to write something because I am applying to Dartmouth ED and “let’s share our anxiety :P”.

My SAT score is very bad - CR=520, and Wr=600. I don’t really think I can get into Dartmouth. But what’s most painful is my half says “I won’t get in!” and other half says “What if … Just what if … I am lucky”. So God knows. Waiting for 6th.

BTW, how about 1880 in admission to Dartmouth. I have been thinking so long…

Thanks

Welcome! Assessing chances is, in my opinion, useless and only further implants false hope or uncertainty in your application. Everyone is capable of analyzing their probability of admission decently. Take what I say however you’d like, but don’t believe that my opinion is THE opinion. You have an idea as to where you stand already, seeing as you’ve been following some posts, and you should ultimately believe in your own thoughts.

In regards to your SAT scores, it may raise some flags, but it certainly is not everything. Don’t let others daunt you, especially not those on CC because CC is comprised of a very small and distinct group of people. Personally, I feel like a large portion of the forum’s members are overly concerned about academics. This attitude has an adverse effect: I know many people who hate and are discouraged by CC because of how elitist-sounding some members are (ie. “I got a 2370 and I’m very disappointed with myself” or “If I get a 4 on one of my 15 AP tests will I be denied admission?” although not everyone on CC is like that of course). Understand that for every super crazy genius that gets in, there will also be an unexpected “outlier” (put in quotes because the definition varies by person) that gets in. There are plenty of people with scores below the mean who get in their school of choice. For me, my strong points lie not in my grades and SAT scores, but rather in my activities (or at least that’s what I think). If you have other areas of interest that you highlighted in your application, rest assured that you definitely have a chance and just hope for the best.

Welcome, Leemas! Good luck!

Sometimes I wish they set a range of scores for admission just as people do here in China. Students could be free from such anxiety of waiting for something they never knew. It’s nonsense of course. But a “holistic” assessment is also somewhat subjective in my opinion.

Well Korea basically does the same thing, and I’ve never thought it a positive system. It’s actually one of the main reasons I want to continue my studies in the U.S., in fact. I’ve always considered it a blessing that I don’t have to study for the single college entrance exam we have 24/7, all three years of high school like a lot of my friends. Instead, I’ve been able to do a lot of extracurricular activities I would never have done otherwise, and they actually helped me find what I want to do in the future. While score-based admissions would definitely be easier for me personally to wait for, since I can know what will happen, I don’t think it will help shape the education I want to receive. So even though this holistic process is killing me right now because I don’t know what will happen on Friday, I’d still go with the anxiety :)

Thursday is great! Good luck everyone. My DD is applying RD and loves Dartmouth.

The days keep moving on!

Here we goooooo

Yeah I guess so. Many other students get in. Perhaps we too much consider those who worry with 2370 or people like that. Chance is chance whether 1 in 10 or 1 in 10000 - that’s what i believe.

I may get in, WE may get in!

Everybody Goodluck! We shall share our good news day after tomorrow!

Ahh, I can’t believe the results are coming out so early! Good luck to everyone. Hopefully, we’ll all get in :)

The email is out! I got it at 10 am sharp. It’s officially official.
