Congratulations and good luck at Dartmouth
VIa email two hours ago.
Thank you.
Till what date do you have to respond by?
The 3rd. They are really processing applications fast right now.
Congratulations @geoffrey1018 Can you please tell us what supplement did you send to DARTMOUTH for your wait list candidacy so that we might get an idea of it. And, which country do you belong to?
Well let’s see… I sent in an update letter (as you all did), our school principal’s rec, and 5 or 6 updates of my achievements and awards. I come from Taiwan, an Asian country near China.
Thanks a lot bro! I’m from the INDIA… I sent 7 updates but they have not been impressed yet. Things seems to be dark on my side. Anyways congratulations man! enjoy your life at DARTMOUTH, All the best.
According to this article, 1115 students have accepted their offer of admission, while the desired class size is 1120. Does that mean those of us remaining on the wait list are competing for only 5 spots?
Yeah!
Maybe +/- 2 since it’s a target as opposed to an absolute, but I would not expect a lot more offers. There was a not-totally-unrelated article in the D about the rooming crunch, so every first year who gets in off the waiting list is another second year who has to scrounge for a place to live. I have no idea if housing and admissions talk to each other.
If the yield rate is 50.4, the computation is like this
1115/2213 = 0.5038
So at this point it appears if someone out of the 1115 drops they will try to fill that spot.
Feeling kinda low!!
I got off the waitlist! I am so excited!
When? Did they call you? Email?
@jarelybest , Congratulations!! How and when did you get notified ?
Hey congrats! Hoping that there is one more spot for me, but if not, everything will be okay! Enjoy your time at Dartmouth!
@jarelybest Congratulations! Did you get notified this weekend or last week?
Guys we can look at it this way: maybe they accepted 93 kids but have not notified them all so keep hoping
http://thedartmouth.com/2015/05/28/yield-decreases-to-50-4-percent-consistent-with-most-years/
The article states 93 admitted, so this means they would have started sending out admission offers to those 93 and out of those whoever accepts the offers, those accepting the offers will count towards the number of waitlisted students accepted.
So there is HOPE people, cheer up.
There is hope…But it is getting pretty late in the game. Being that Dartmouth started sending this out almost a month ago, there are mostly likely very few additional offers coming.
Just received another “update your status” with Dartmouth email. I guess they might still have a few spots left.
“If you remain interested in potentially attending Dartmouth, we encourage you to update your candidacy…”
Not sure if I want to still be on it since I got into Columbia. I don’t even know why it’s taking this long. Good luck to everyone!
