Hey there! I was waitlisted at Dartmouth. I really want to go to Dartmouth, but what are the chances of getting off the waiting list? How much are admitted from the waiting list each year? Also, are there any tips on how to get off the waiting list and get accepted? What should waitlisted students do in order to increase our chances of getting accepted? Please, I would appreciate your help because I really want to go there! Thank you! ^_^

Best of luck with your admission. Hope to see you in Dartmouth Class of 2018 Group!

I was deferred early round, and I feel like a big reason I was accepted was that I wrote a very heartfelt letter to the Admissions office explaining why I felt that Dartmouth was a great fit for me and that I still considered it to be my first choice – my feelings when I visited, what I’m looking for in a college, etc. I also updated on a few minor things I’d been involved in and I included an essay I’d written about myself that I’d modified from an essay I’d sent to Yale and Harvard about all my different dimensions. These are things I felt I couldn’t portray in my Dart or Common app essays, or in an interview because I wasn’t offered one. I feel like that’s a big reason why they kept my app on the table as my scores/GPA/ECs are strong and unique, but not perfect. I only sent one update. I had an additional teacher send a letter (not thru common app, but mailed) as well. Hang in there. A friend of our family was waitlisted and got offered a spot in late June last year – so it’s definitely possible @astrogirl.

Thank you so much @soccerfan14 @JimmyAtParadise !! I am really positive that everything is going to turn out just how it is supposed to be!!
Are there any other students who got waitlisted? Please post if you receive emails, letters, or anything related to the waiting list!! Thank you! :)

Hey @astrogirl, I’m on the waiting list this year too. Dartmouth is by far my first choice; I’m without a doubt going to commit if offered a spot. Happy to hear that you’re staying positive, hope’s never a bad thing :)

Hey there! I just received an email confirming my spot on the waitlist! I almost had a heart attack when I saw it was from Dartmouth lol!

Don’t look into those generic letters and hold onto little hopes and details.
Just wait. There’s not much you can do at this moment as the admissions will fill (if they are even going to) their class from the waitlist by replacing people who have turned down the acceptance; for instance, if a tuba player chose Cornell over Dartmouth and Dartmouth needs someone who plays Tuba, a Tuba player from the waitlist will get accepted.
I don’t think it’s unhealthful to track everything and every little detail, so don’t worry about it and try to really get waitlist off your mind – move on.

It’s like the lottery. The odds are ridiculous, but you can’t win if you don’t play. Good luck, astrogirl.

This might be a stupid question, but which email do you send in your LOCI to?

admissions.processing@dartmouth.edu for all waitlist updates.

Unfortunately, Dartmouth will not be using the wait-list this year…

:( this is really sad oh well… amen

Wow. I agree @astrogirl, I’m not going to lie I’m a bit crushed by this.

The yield was extremely high with the Class of 2014 too (55%), and they still ended up going to the wait list against all odds. Is there any way that will happen again?

Did anyone else receive an email today about the waitlist? I did… it was about the unexpected high yield, and how they would still consider me if spaces became available

Yes @astrogirl , I received the same email. I’m really hoping that they eventually make it to the waitlist this year, maybe if there is enough movement in the HYPS and other waitlists we will get lucky. Not giving up hope until the waitlist officially closes!

Hey just one question, did any of you waitlisted friends request a hard copy of your waitlist letter? I did, and I requested it on March 27, and still haven’t received it! :0 I don’t want to call because I don’t know seems weird, but it really saddens me that I didn’t receive it. Any advice?

I requested the letter as well upon receiving my decision and it has not been sent. I just assumed that there’s too much going on for them to concern themselves with it, to be honest. I’m probably just going to let it go, but it’s totally up to you :)

Someone posted that someone got off of the Dartmouth waitlist. Can anyone confirm that offers are out?

Are they supposed to send us a letter of rejection or something like that?
