My school doesn’t factor in +/- in gpa but I feel like most schools look more at the rigor of your classes in comparison to your schools curriculum than simply looking at your gpa
Also just got back from visiting Vanderbilt and I fell in love so kinda hoping I don’t get in to Dartmouth so I can apply to vandy
You can withdraw and ask to be reconsidered RD, if you want, @clairecm98
@clairecm98 luckily Vanderbilt has ED2!!
ED is binding so if you aren’t completely sure you should probably withdraw.
@clairecm98 You should withdraw rather than taking a spot from someone who truly wants to go to Dartmouth.
@clairecm98 please withdraw. make it easier for all of the rest of us!
I don’t think one person’s withdrawal will improve anyone’s chances dramatically.
Haha I think it was more of a joke, reminds me of E. B. White’s quote about analyzing a joke and dissecting a frog…
Is anyone else here going to apply to other Ivies? Because I’m considering just applying for most of them now that I have a job and therefore money
I plan on applying, but other LACs are above them on my list of choices. Fit is really important to me, and each of the ivies has its own culture and personality, so it wouldn’t make sense for me to love both Dartmouth and UPenn equally, as they are so different.
I’m applying to Brown, too. And I know the culture there is very different from Dartmouth’s, but they have a concentration/major that fits my career ambitions
Did any other Hispanic people apply? I’m from NJ and go to a predominantly white/Asian school, and I’m hoping that if I’m admitted to Dartmouth’s class of 2020, I’d meet more Hispanic people and get to know my culture a little better.
Hey @ohwhatalife , I’m hispanic too!
Hello fellow 2020s (because we will all be 2020s somewhere!)~
This week is going to be trying. We are stressed out, anxiously awaiting a decision that there is absolutely no surefire way to predict. Besides constantly checking our emails and Dartmouth Admissions portals, we will devote LOTS of time to thinking about college, talking about college, crying about college…
If this week doesn’t end the way you’ve hoped, continue. Do not stop applying and seeking the perfect place for you. Just APPLYING to Dartmouth ED lends quite a bit of prestige to your name! As much as this is a letter to myself, it is a letter to all of you, too. Don’t give up hope!
Hope to see you all on the Dartmouth Green next fall…
Love,
Sophie
PS Listening to the Dartmouth Fight Song raises spirits Give it a try!
@sre415 Thank you for that. >:D<
So I talked to my college counselor this week and she said that when she spoke with the Dartmouth admissions team they told her that results are likely to come out later this year (closer to the 16th). Apparently Dartmouth’s head of admissions left so they have an interim admissions dean who changed the whole application system. Now instead of being read by one person, everyone’s application goes to the entire committee, which means that making decisions takes a lot longer! Oh well- we’ll find out soon enough. Who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky and will find out next week- good luck to all of you!!
@JARO10 - glad you’re applying to brown! my high school is actually on Brown’s campus and we use a lot of their facilities so I can tell you that it’s a really great place and providence is amazing. all of my older siblings went there and loved it:) obviously I hope you get into Dartmouth but if you don’t then brown is a really great second choice!
@kmh2600 Thank you for the info. I spoke with Dartmouth’s Admissions office this week, and they too told me that it will probably be at least the 14th before decisions will be out, which agrees with what you’ve been told.
I now think Dartmouth’s results will be released around the same time as Yale’s, on the 15th.
So is there any chance that we will hear on Friday?
Sure, until they release an official date, one thing is as likely as another.
