@MRU93Raith & rishav17: thanks, I do indoor rowing & 4’s for my school, this thread is growing really fast!

@sunny and Raith sorry I fell asleep on you guys.

@raith Our country is similar to yours in terms of the island feel. Its cool sometimes. but we have to wear uniforms to school. idk if you can say that’s lose fitting. Every school before university does. And some teacher’s college and some colleges do too.
And you must really hate your weather to like D which is the extreme opposite. Are you saying that winter hasn’t yet started on your side of the world ?

@rishav Our syllabus is interesting. And I guess we learn the stuff more in-depth then since all you learn is a chapter.

Congrats on your acceptance !!

@Jawad
That’s really awesome! I’m really considering maybe trying to pick up rowing when I get to uni (I’d prefer swimming… but body really isn’t built for it :’( )
Haha yea… we worked out that we have an average of around 30-36 posts a day :P

@Carib
Good morning! (for you at least)
I just hate the heat I was in South Africa for the past two years for school… and even during winter (when it got to about -8 as the lowest while I was there) I slept with my windows open! I would prefer being cold and having to get warmer than feeling hot and having to get colder…

@Raith

As I said tourism is quite nascent despite it’s vast potential!! And you’d be expecting luxury resorts but all it has is decent hotels!

It is growing in recent years though!! And the movie has helped quite a lot I would presume!!

[Madagascar hopes movie will boost tourism and economy](Madagascar hopes movie will boost tourism and economy)

Old article, but still shows some of what I said!!

@Caribgurl - Thanks!

And well you really can’t determine that without having a thorough comparison of both syllabi !! :)

Do you have your syllabus online somewhere??

@MRU93Raith: nice!, maybe if we’d both get accepted to Dartmouth, I can help you with rowing there! lol, both my alumni interviewers were rowers of their time, and were telling me that rowing is considered quite a sport at Dartmouth.

@Rishav
Sorry, when I meant lodges… they are like 5 star types… really appeals to me (kinda more than a typical 5 star resort)
But yes, you are right. Its like Mongolia in terms on inhabitants xP haha (not quite… it has more people for square kilometre)

@Jawad
If we do both get in and go to Dartmouth I would really appreciate that! I have played around with rowing before, but I have yet to get into a proper row boat. I have worked on ergos with a friend of mine (I don’t remember my stats though unfortunately - though they were decent compared to the bottom of the 1st 8’s and most of the 2nd 8’s) I would have to practice the hectic fitness required, and the technique in terms of the flaring the oar and balance on those tiny seats

I have rowed open water though… but those boats are much wider to compensate for the waves.

@rishav Yes. They’re online. You can google like CAPE Law syllabus, CXC Principles of Business, CXC Principles of Accounts or CAPE Accounting syllabus and so on. You will see them.

What’s your syllabus called ?

@Raith I prefer the cold too but not too cold. I hear D has good heating still. i guess we should just worry about getting outside to classes. lol.

@Raith & Jawad

I have done a bit of kayaking… just for fun though!! But rowing(and/or kayaking) is something that I look forward to doing in college!! Along with boxing!! :D

Also, I found it really tough kayaking doubles than single, the co-ordination(or rather lack of it) causes HUGE problems!! :P

But Boxing anyone?? :D

@caribgurl - Thanks

http://www.cisce.org/isc_XII_Syllabus_year_2013.html

^ That’s the link to the site with all our syllabi for different subjects!! :)

lol. @rishav Boxing is too rough a sport for me. They aim for your face !!

Thanks. If you give me what subjects you want to see I could send you the link since all the syllabi aren’t in one place.

Yeah I know… but I feel like punching things all the while!! :P

Also in amateur boxing(which is what I’m talking about) - the protective headgear & the mouth piece & the rules take a lot of sting away!! :)

Plus I think my build is perfect for boxing - I’d have an advantage since I’m tall & light… So I’d be in the lower weight category with a better height advantage!! :D

Edit:-

I just changed the link to my syllabus… had posted a wrong one earlier!!

@rishav I thought you said it was a chapter !! Your syllabus is just as detailed, or maybe even more (well, except for the foreign language thing). And you have some of the same subjects.

And fashion designing is a subject at this level? That’s so cool !! We have something called clothing and textile which is similar but different. They make clothes and other stuff. But idk cuz I don’t do it.

@Caribgurl - Well, a link to anything to do with the sciences or English would be great!! :)

@Carib
I still prefer the feel of the cold, the chill across the face I don’t plan on just relaxing outside though But my best temperature range for my normal set of clothes is from 5 degrees to about 15… anything warmer is slightly uncomfortable for me, and anything colder I have to start adding a layer or two depending on how long I’ll be exposed to the cold.

@Rishav
Keep in mind rowing is very different to kayaking like at my dad’s place we have a tandem kayak and a tandem open water row boat… the kayak is easy for us to use… the row boat, well with a cross current and a couple small mistakes things can go bad (and no rudder to steer… only quicker movements on one side) :P

I can’t find any other science subjects or any English ones but i hope these give an insight.

I can tell you that in literature you do drama pieces, poems and prose.

Sorry I’m not of more help.

@Raith I like the cold more too. I just don’t like when it’s too cold.

@Caribgurl - We have a LOT of subjects but we are supposed to do only 4 of them(different permutations for different streams) and depending upon school policy, you are allowed to take up to 6 subjects!!

Yeah, FD is quite a trendy subject… especially among the girls! :D

And thanks for the links, I’ll go through them!!
@Raith - Yeah, I get that. Rowing & Kayaking are different! But they are still in the same broad category! :p

I just liked kayaking, so I thought I should try out rowing too maybe!!

Well the Kayaks I used had no rudder either so… :O

Sigh. I THOUGHT the pracs went off pretty well! Especially since our teacher didn’t even give us any hints -.-@Rishav: Why did you pipette out KMnO4?? Are you sure it wasn’t Mohr’s salt?
The languages are compulsory at our school. But as rishav has mentioned, once you pick science you are stuck with P, C AND M !
Congrats on the acceptance! Did you apply early?

Oh and I’m so into the martial arts (Not Boxing though!) that I was considered “violent” back in middle school That’s one thing I love abt Dartmouth- I can continue JKA Karate :)

I tried out for Boxing…Definitely my style:)
