**Dartmouth International Applicant's Thread 2017**

@Rishav
Thanks! My sister also really liked it :slight_smile: Descriptive writing is the only form of writing that I actually do ok at :P

I really like your EC Essay - especially since I understand what the MUN actually does :stuck_out_tongue: I would have really enjoyed having that opportunity (maybe my school offered it… but I never knew about it :confused: )

@Sunny
Yea, I know that quite a lot of Germans do snow kiting. My German friend who kites with me says that she prefers it on water, on the snow you can’t do it with a lot of wind as it would pick up the snow, you also have to find really open flat areas with enough wind.
But I still think that being able to jump 5 or so metres in the air is the best part!

@rishav
I think I won’t post mine, it’s terrible. And after reading yours and Raith I just realize how worse my English (especially writing skills) are. :smiley:
Well, I think your ec prompt is great, you really love what you do. :)

@Sunny
I’d love to hear yours! :slight_smile: But it is your choice :)

Sunny - I am sure yours would be better than mine. Haha.
Wouldnt force you but post it if you like.

And even after cutting down, my essay was 550-ish -.-

@Rishav - Man i swear i’m so jealous. I always wanted to do MUNs but there were no MUNs in Delhi/NCT (none that my school participated in anyway)

And yeah i agree. The suspense is eatingggg mehhh! -.-

@Keya - Isnt Omnibus supposed to mean an anthology of the work of some particular artist? I might be wrong though.

Woohoo!!!
Oh and my essay was my UC essay(in a more refined form)…I guess @ it serves a question to u guys to @rishav:)

@Raith and guyinblue
Maybe I will post it if I am in the mood :smiley:

@keya
I think you have to tell us the two meanings of omnibus :)

The two meanings of omnibus:
1)A collection of productions - written/visual…
2)A really long transport vehicle, ie long bus :P

Since it is past midnight here… ie the 10th of February

HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUIVER!!

Hey,thank you soo much @raith:):)

Happy birthday, quiverfox! :smiley:
Hope you have loads of fun! :slight_smile:
(Screw the exams and party :stuck_out_tongue: )

Sure;) Why not…and THANK YOU:)!!!

@Quiver
Very welcome… good start to the day don’t you think? :smiley:
And yea, for one day screw revising and have a great time!

to just log in and see HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IS really awesome:)

Hopefully I can continue for everyone who has their birthdays up to the end of this thread

@Quiver - Happy Birthday!! And yeah, screw studies & have fun!! :P

@Sunny - Thanks, but do post your essay please!! :smiley:
I’m sure it’s great!!! It happens with me too, when I see others’ essays’, I feel mine are way inferior to them!! But don’t worry everyone’s got a different style & a different story to tell!! :D

@blue - Well I didn’t have much of a chance at my old school either. In my current school, there’s this craze for MUNing!!
And actually, from what I hear, NCR has MUNs every other week!! :O

Common app short answer:

They’re elegant. They’re cute. They quietly scream out their desire to be noticed. They provide respite from the perfectionist in me. And I’m driven to advocate their cause in this world, where biodiversity is rapidly depleting.
Whether it’s in the view from the library’s spacious windows at school, in a brief glimpse from a speeding bus, during a careful search on a fussy holiday, or on a diacritic observation while reclining on a chair in my garden, I’m always on the lookout for birds.
There’s a lot more than patience, perseverance, observational skills, the joy of learning and moments of exhilaration that I’ve gained from being a bird-watcher. Photographing birds has given me the initiative to share with others the beauty that can lie only in the eyes of the beholder.
“I care about birds…when I don’t get chicken for dinner.” The words of a newcomer to my school depict the quintessential reaction to my singular hobby—but that fails to change the fact that I love bird-watching.

Happy Birthday Quiver !

I’d love to read your essay, Sunny, let’s say, because I love to read? Every piece of writing tells a story :)

Oh and I meant to pun on these two meanings of omnibus: 1. (noun) A vehicle carrying many passengers; used for publictransport 2. (adjective) Providing for many things atonce

My essay was initially nearly 1000 words…my teacher told me it would lose my essence when i’d edited it to 561 words, so that’s when I sent it in. It compared my life to a journey on a bus…that’s the only way I can describe it. Sorry, it’s too personal to post! Let’s just say I could depict the sensation of growing up, my rationality, my philosophies and a difficult phase in my life very well through this one essay. It spoke volumes about me :)

@Keya - Both you’re essays are BRILLIANT!! Better than Raith’s (sorry bro, but being honest here!) & way way better than mine anyway!! :D

Well, I actually liked the 500 word limit!! As I would’ve left it at 650 then & wouldn’t have sounded that good!! :D

Quiver Happy Birthday! :)

@Raith
Do you go to South Africa today? Have fun :)

@keya
I think your ec prompt is awesome and your essay about the omnibus sounds great, interesting topic :)
