@Carib
I don’t know if it is like this in the Southern Hemisphere; but I think Australia and New Zealand follow the same year (but I am not sure). Some other African countries and some schools in Mauritius have the same school year. My old school was from September to July though.

Ok. Cool stuff. But aren’t you at work now or is it Saturday already?

Nah, I finished early today and had to get a lift to the hotel I am staying at till Monday :)

@Raith
Oh. You’re living the life I see. Well atleast working will ease your anxiety.

Are you anxious btw? You seemed relax even betore you started working. Idk how I feel. I’m not anxious. I just want to know where i’m going already.

@Carib
Hahaha, I can’t complain much hey

Nah, not anxious, I actually don’t get nervous or anxious about anyhing really except just before a swimming gala :P

@Carib…same here !! But I am sort of stuck in a dilemma whether to stay back here or go there:( Everyone here tells me pros/cons…nobody really gives me a definitive idea…

@Raith
Swimming gala? Is that a swim meet or somewhere you just swim to display talent?

Since Princeton is your first choice, is their swim club/team
good?

@Carib
Yea, a swim gala is a swim meet - sorry for the different terminology.
Their swim team is good, not the best though, but I’m not even at their standard yet : /

Caribgurl - We have exams in March (the whole month). And nothing else matters more than the marks you earn in your finals (called ‘the boards’). No grades, No achievements, only marks.
We get vacations : Summer is Mid/End of May to June.
Winters is : 2 weeks including last week of dec and first week of the january.

I do hope I was able to explain and not confuse you Sorry if i did (confuse you, that is).

Is the system in your country heavily based on final exam marks too? :O

@Raith Lol. But you love to swim!! I guess you just need practice. I don’t do any sports and i’m just learning to swim at my school. Lol. I’m going to be a beginner when I start college but I want to try a sport.

@quiver They can’t give you a definitive answer because you are the one going to the school. You have to weigh the pros and cons on your terms and see where best you can deal with youe cons for the next four years. Remember that you are the one going to the school. If someone gives you a definitive answer and you act on it, you might regret it after a while.

@Raith - Oh well. Some people have a reputation I guess. Anyway off the gloomy topic! :D

Haha. Well Im sure you will have nice company there hehe
Set someone up for me too -_-
I see so many nice girls while I work but sadly I cant interact to any of them (Company policy ***!) :’(

@blue Heavily based. Jobs here ask for your CXC and CAPE grades. You need good CXC grades to advance to sixth form and you need good CAPE grades to get into the local unis. If you don’t have them for uni you may have to do a preliminary year. It also helps to have good grades for summer jobs and subsidies for university. As you can see, they are really important in my country.

CXC and CAPE are done by all English-speaking Caribbean countries though so i’m not sure how heavily it is weighed in the other countries. But I do know that everyone needs good grades to get into the NiveUniversity of the West Indies which is the regional uni.

@quiver - Too early to be thinking. Wait until D Day. Decisions Day that is.

@Caribgurl - Oh man I thought it was just India that put so much emphasis on marks :S
I hate this policy.
You do well the whole year but mess up in the final exams = Youre srw_d -.- All your hardwork and dedication in the last 2 years will count for nothingggg.

Anyways, done with my rants O:)
When do you have your exams? After decisions come out?

@Blue
I’ll get 2 for you bro!
And it won’t be through the company (or at least I don’t think so) :P

@blue Yes. My exams start in May. It is going to be such a drag doing them since i’ll already know where i’m going by then.

@guyinblue - You mean DJing when you say work?? If yes then that policy is outright BS! :p

@caribgurl, Actually my school schedule differs slightly from blue’s!! Haha! India is a BIG country you see… and I live in the South.

So
June - October: Term 1
October(2 weeks) - Holidays
Oct. end to December - Term 2
Dec - Jan(2 weeks) - Holidays
Jan - March end/April Beginning - Term 3
April to June - Summer Holidays!

At the end of each term we have exams, with the Final Exam being at the end of March!! :)

When it comes to board exams - they are the end all & be all here in India too!! Though many universities have “Entrance Exams” which will screw you left & right!! Haha!!

@Raith - that countdown was to defy the 10 character rule!! Haha!! :D

@Raith
F*** the 10 character rule! !

***?

:p

Blahblah

well, in my school, we dont get so many holidays though >_>
