oh and yes, the boards are the end all, be all.
even though many unis have their entrances, they still have the board % cutoffs. :3

@Rishav. I know India is big. We get the same holidays but at different times.

September to December - Christmas term
Two to three weeks Christmas holiday between second week of Dec to first week of Jan
January to March/April - Easter term
One and a half to three weeks easter holidays
April to June/July - Summer term
June/July to August/first week of September is summer!!

My terms seem longer, idk why. But our systems both add up to one year.

@Raith - Ahaha thanks man ;D i owe you one lol.

@Rishav - Ikr? Its so stupid! Well usually my deck has like 2-3 bouncers around it, and they dont let anyone through. If you wanna request a song the bouncers pass the message -.- its pretty irritating tbh.

But oh well. I get bragging rights that I play at a Superclub blablabla :p

Also *** = w tee eff! :p

@Caribgurl - Haha well I can understand. But thats good too. I mean, no stress during the exams :D

@guy - Ohh come on man… you’ve gotta be kidding!! Don’t you get like free time to go mingle with the crowd, when your shift is up or something??

Atleast you get bragging rights! Haha!!

btw… how old are you? O.o

@Rew- Both the schools I studied in are damn good when it comes to holidays!! :D

@Rishav - Well i am pretty tired by the time it gets over, and barely spend half an hour there. Never more than that.

Haha well yes. And you get to mention it on your college app :p

And I’m 18. Older than you guys I guess. Why if i may ask? :p

The two schools Ive been are both equally miser when it comes to holidays -_-

@blue - Everyone seems to be older than me here!! :p

I asked because, superclubs aren’t supposed to employ minors!! Haha!! :D

hey, quick questions-
i read that hooks are not valid for int’ applicants.
what are the possible hooks that work for international applicants?

gah. i am just fretting A LOT >_>
i cant concentrate on my upcoming board exams, and instead, i am almost always on CC >.<

@rew - I’m with you on that. 10 days to boards and I haven’t started!! :/

Well about hooks, I think they are ‘valid’ for Intn’ls also!! :)

You’re obviously not an URM but certain other things such as recruit athlete, International achievement, groundbreaking research(which quiverfox has done), etc. are somethings that help!!

Yes. Well, Malaysians are URMs, acc to UCLA website.

Hmm. I tried getting recruited, but they recruited max 4-5 athletes. So.

What has quickfox done, again? O.o
Naaaice- “Groundbreaking research!”

Rishav - Really? Thats weird cus ive been at this club since 11th grade. Its just I landed a residency this year itself.

Rew - I dont think Indians have ANY hooks.
And I wanted to get recruited too, but it was a very lengthy process. What sport were you looking at ?

@Blue
I’ll keep that in mind when we get to Datmouth xP

@Rew
I honestly don’t believe hooks to help much unless it is based on recruitment (which even then I think Ivy’s have agreed not to do unless the student has a brilliant academic record in addition to their sport - ie not a 1400 or so)
URM’s I think count less and less each year as you get more and more people from international countries applying (or at least I am assuming so)
I’d love to think that I’d fall into one of those “hook” categories, but unfortunately I don’t unless they count country citizen status towards URM instead of ethnicity+country
Me being a white South African who is never going to be an Olympic swimmer (just simple physics) haha! And unlike Quiver, I haven’t done anything particularly special in terms of developing something new C’est la vie mes amis!

QuiverFox helped design a sort of irrigation system to help reduce the cost of efficiently watering crops as a lot of water was wasted due to older more inefficient systems.
Correct me if I am wrong there Quiver, from what I remember reading and what you told us that seems to be the overall gist?

@rew - What sport did you try getting recruited for??

@guy - Well I think it differs from city to city!! Dunno really!! :p

@rishav and @Raith…Im truly flattered:)

Well all I did was invent a circuit that reads soil moisture on different parts of a farm and controls irrigation pump sets(while simultaneously updating a central database&&the farmer)…Since like villages get power in wee hours of morning so its really harsh on them:(…But now,when they wake up…voil

@Quiver
I think the fact that you weren’t treating it as a hook and you genuinely was interested in doing it works in your favour - or at least I would imagine so.
And I don’t think many people would have thought that that would be particularly easy though the concept is simple and with the right equipment it shouldn’t be too difficult (but I don’t have much experience - just thinking hypothetically) ;)

Though you have inspired me to help my mum xP I’m creating a small garden patch with a low maintenance watering system that can be adjusted for flow to different patched for particular plants. Also has to prevent birds and other pests from destroying it while maybe putting up a fight against the cyclones we get.

Oh, and for those of you who were wondering why I want to go to Princeton (why it is pretty much my 1st choice)
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/902375-101-reasons-attend-princeton.html
That link explains just a bit of it :D

Well Raith…all the best on that assignment:)
Well…‘equipment/resourses/funding’ are the major obstacles here…The rest of the project is pretty easy(cept you’ll need some time to understand DTMF)
I decided to start this project cause we were looking for a moisture sensor for home(We are a little weird…besides the point:D) and a single device costed like 200$…SO i decided to make something a little cheaper…and made one for 2$…:)

I still think you did a great job at it. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you reduce the cost so considerably? And also how sensitive is the sensor - as in does it have the capability to read and record multiple different moisture ranges, or just past a certain threshold amount?

I PM’ed you:)

Thanks bro. I replied too.

@rew…when colleges look at candidates…they hang them up on 2 special objects…if you are a URM…you get the hook…But if you are from India…u get a noose…
