Does DMS prefer Dartmouth undergraduates?

Also, my guidance counselor mentioned one time that there are medical schools affiliated with a university that will accept the undergraduates from that university as long as they maintain a specific GPA. They won't need to take the MCATs or anything. I asked her about this, and she said that she wasn't referring to programs. Is any of this true? I'm quite skeptical. If it is, then does DMS do this?

tux

no, Dartmouth does not have any joint degree programs where you would get into the Med school without the MCAT . each is handled separately

The question of preference for undergraduates from a certain school is a different question from allowing its undergraduates automatic admission if they maintain a specific GPA.

There are highly competitive combined bachelor's/MD programs that you can apply to as a high school senior. HPME (Northwestern), PLME (Brown), and Inteflex (U. of Michigan) are the most well-known but there are many more. It's much more competitive to get into these programs than it is the regular university. You are essentially getting accepted to the med school at 18, so the process is just as rigorous as if you were 22.

I don't think Dartmouth has this program.

Alright. I have another quick question. Suppose I get accepted to Dartmouth. If I do engineering sciences with biology (modified major according to the course guide) there, then will that fill premed requirements?

hi Tux,

this link should help answer most of your pre-med questions.

This is very convenient. The engineering sciences with biology major covers requirements.
