no directly from the portal and it’s her great friend since preschool, so we know he sent it. probably the kid who knows her the best. she’s a strong candidate so i don’t know why they wouldn’t look at it. and she just noticed no checkmark.
I think they said the deadline was Jan 5 or something along those lines. Could be that. They prob still reviewed it though even if it was late so I wouldn’t worry
NYU and Berkley had portal indicators of admission, anyone know if Dartmouth or any of the ivys have a portal indicator?
What were the indicators?
I don’t think so. I only submitted my Peer Recommendation Letter in march, but they still marked it as received in my application checklist.
For NYU
If the button to update info was gone it meant a decision had been made and upon checking the housing portal if you saw
Spring 2021 + Summer 2021 = Rejection or Waitlist
Summer 2021 = Waitlist
Spring 2021 + Summer 2021 + Academic Year 2021 = Accepted
And if you had a gray withdraw button on your application portal the day of decisions it indicated a waitlist while if you didn’t it was an acceptance or rejection
Idk about Berkley I didnt apply there I just know the Berkley portal had indicators as well
Welp.
I got valedictorian and had my book published (it ranked pretty high within the first week on Kindle) in early-mid march and submitted an application update via the application portal. I also sent it to my local admissions officer (Canada), but he didn’t reply. Not sure if Dartmouth viewed it or considered it… anyone know if they review all the application updates?
Well I would assume they should if it was sent in by the time they reviewed and made a decision on your application file.
applicants still have a chance of being admitted w out the peer recommendation right?
Sorry, I’m a little confused. If they reviewed my application and chose to reject me prior to reviewing my update, would they still review the update? I know getting valedictorian and having my book published isn’t too crazy considering practically everyone who sends an application to Dartmouth ranks high in their class, but would it be reason enough to give my application a second look?
Yes you still have a chance. My family friend’s cousin got into Dartmouth '22 without a peer recommendation.
It is unlikely that any update would move an application out of the reject pile.
I’m praying I was at least waitlisted before my update then
Yes, I’ve heard of several people who got in without it
Wow. Someone spent a lot of time reverse-engineering it! We’re just assuming rejection, just to be safe.
Our portal looks exactly the same…
I have heard of a lot of people getting accepted without the peer rec.
This is not exactly perfect. I had only summer on the portal and still got rejected. At the end of the day, all this is speculative and even after the decisions come out the cc community is not big enough to be representative of the pool. Decisions’ll come when they’ll come. Until then, chill and watch tv or smthing haha
Yes—it’s my DD’s last decision, so getting antsy. Good luck to everyone!
