Don’t worry about the valedictorian part being overlooked if you moved up because of your midyear grades/gpa, because that information is included on the midyear report that the guidance counselor sends to all colleges. I saw a blank form that an AO posted.
My mid-year report was sent in February, and my school selects valedictorian in early March out of the top 5 students with the highest GPA after also considering their involvement in the school community. Hence, I am kind of leaning on them looking at my application update, but I am still unclear about if they consider all materials that are uploaded in the portal.
Oh, I see. Here they just go by senior midyear GPA.
I like the way some colleges send a confirmation and a copy of the update. That was more reassuring. Hope all goes well.
At my school there would be riots if it was picked by some sort of committee rather than just pure GPA, even now people riot if someone took easier classes and have a higher GPA
Same here.
If you were already one of the top five in your class, I don’t think getting valedictorian would make much of a difference in the admissions decision. Congrats, by the way.
The top 5 students with the highest GPA have really close GPAs, only off by a percent or two, so my school finds it unfair that, for example, if a student fundraised thousands for the school and won many trophies for it is overlooked because he or she got one mark off on a test that another student didn’t.
Thank you!
All the best
I actually have no idea. It’s quite an unorthodox position you’re in.
Did anyone’s withdraw button disappear?
yep
Yes
yea
yup
What have your other decisions been so far?
Curious… I’m preparing my heart for my son’s rejection…
How many students have college counselors, test tutors, and application guidance?
His HS’s top students typically get accepted to elite schools with the help of our geographic “hook” but I’m shocked how little help the school has provided with app process. We are not in the income bracket to be able to afford hiring someone. His Co- Val was accepted to Cal T with lesser scores, same classes and grades essentially. He fell in love with just a couple of schools and didn’t apply to more. The entire school community is expecting him to go somewhere “BIG”. Some sadness, but no remorse. He made good decisions. There’s always trying to transfer or grad school.
Best of luck all! May you find sleep this eve!
We didn’t have any of that guidance either. (It doesn’t always help though)
Anyone expecting King’s Scholarship? Any interview and/or indication?
Best of luck to everyone today from the moderating team. Remember, regardless of the outcome, your admissions results do not define who you are.
