dartmouth summer visitation program

i am a high school junior and i got a letter about this two-day program. sounds pretty interesting...free trip, free dorm stay, free food, free tour, free everything. i think i am going. who else is coming with me?

I had ignored the first application I received b/c it was due during my finals week, but today I got an e-mail stating that the the deadline was pushed back until next Tuesday. Since everything is free, I might appply even though I previously had no intention of appyling to Darmouth in the fall.

How is it that one comes upon letters such as these?

July 31st ??? If so, I am !

Is it destination dartmouth by any chance....if so GO....SOOOOOO MUCH FUN. And they don't dress up the campus like they do for dimensions, so you get to see the real thing, even though its summer term. Destination sold me on Dartmouth, and it still is my first choice..even though I'm not going there!

Hey KB,

The summer program is destination Dartmouth.

ITS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FUN....GO GO GO!!!

'Nuff said.....HI SYBBIE......I MISS YOU SO!!!!!

KB,

I miss you too....
One of my D's friends who is on his way to UMich for orientation this week. I hope you have a great time at orientation.

the program is this weekend
sunday and monday
who is going??

Who received these letters? My D received emails about Dartmouth and has been added to the mailing list, but didn't get any info about this program. It is for a special population?

The program I am referring to is "Dartmouth Direct." I had to complete an application, write an essay and forward transcripts. I'm not sure exactly how many students are actually accepted into this program, but it is my belief - not many.

One more thing.. This program is, I believe, for minority students only. I am a female hispanic/latino.

That would explain it. My D is caucasian.

Wow, there's a CC thread for everything... I'm going too, I think it might just be for minorities, but I don't remember...it looks nice, free transportation, overnight stay, no cost...makes up for the strangely complete application we had to send in.

sxyvixen, on what are you basing your statement regarding selectivity? The application looked formidable, but they never mentioned selectivity as an issue, or if they did, I missed it...is it just a hunch?

Er...right. How was it?

Best part was walking around alone on campus at 3:30 a.m. sxyvixen, which bus were you from?

I had an awsome time... I walked around campus too at like 3:00 and got lost- when me and some of my friends went into town at like 2:45, nothing was happening! The town was so desolate, lol. But, i had such an awsome time.... what about everyone else??? Good experiences, bad experiences- give me your stories and thoughts!

I went. It was a good experience. I liked how they didn't really care what you did after all the scheduled events where over. It really made me want to go there more then before I went. Still not my first choice but I will definitely apply and consider it.

I went! Pretty awesome time, met some really cool people, and LOVED their gov class (a lot of kids from the program were in it. It was the Arab-Israeli Conflict). Anyways, SXYVIXEN0488, are you one of those people who came knocking on everyone's doors at 2 AM?

Dart isn't my first choice tho. It's like Princeton (I'm EDing there), but less polished.

I went, dartmouth is my first choice anyways, I love the skiing and outdoors aspect. I would be skiing where ever I go but you just can't beat the location.

Sorry Doctorx88, but it wasnt me knocking on any door.
