Dartmouth's Rival?

Which school is Dartmouth's traditional rival?

Harvard vs. Yale is obvious
Princeton vs. Penn seem to be traditional rivals...

Which leaves Brown, Cornell and Columbia... thoughts people?

All of the above.

Yes, but which school do Dartmouth folks identify as their traditional, main rival - if you had to choose one?

probably columbia? maybe brown?

Harvard (just like half the ivies). The truth is there is no real rival for most of the Ivies outside of H-Y.

hmm isn't it cornell (or at least in terms of hockey). that's what i thought, at least

I would say Princeton. They are each other's traditional last game of the season on the football schedule and the school most similar to Dartmouth within the Ivy League in terms of size and UG focus and probably the school that the most current non-ED Dartmouth students had as their first choice.

Princeton is often seen as our rival

i was always under the impression that the ivy league rivalries were as following:

Harvard vs. Yale
Columbia vs. Brown
Princeton vs. Dartmouth
Penn vs. Cornell

Princeton Dartmouth is the big Hockey rivalry…students pack the stands, make or sell shirts, throw tennis balls, have chants, paint themselves, all that. And people like to beat Harvard, obviously. So Princeton traditionally for hockey is the big one. Columbia for football, only because in the years when both teams are in danger of going winless, at least they have to play each other, so someone’s getting a win. That’s not a rivalry though…just kinda sad. Except we’re pretty good this year.

Pretty good would be overstating it. More like … surprisingly competent
