dating at NU

everyone ive talked to has said the dating scene at NU is pathetic. Is it really as abysmal as everyone says? :(

it's not horrible, but it is true that there is a lot of random hooking up and getting an actual relationship or date is not as common. i also think it's different north and south campus...north campus, having the frats, is party central....so it's sometimes hard to get a relationship...i think people who live on south campus and aren't surrounded by that atmosphere might have more luck with relationships...but, i've never lived on south campus. i know several people who are in good relationships, but there are so many more who randomly hookup at parties

Everything i've heard about almost every college i've looked at is that the dating scene is bad, random hookups, etc. Who cares what everyone else says? Every school can't be bad, so i don't believe any of it.

If you want to see only serious dating relationships and no random hookups on campus, go to Christian schools. :)

kmac, what advice do you have for a rising junior like i in getting into northwestern. even better, if you could post your stats, that would be great.

well....im a voice major, so it's a little different...i didn't take SATs or SAT IIs and it's about half and half weighed btw the application and audition process....but here goes....

ACT: 30
GPA: something like 3.97 unweighted
Rank: 3/300
National Merit Commended/Special Scholarship
AP English Comp - 3

musicals (9-12)
plays (9-12)
choir (9-11)
band (9)
Solo & Ensemble Participant (9-11)

Girls Matter mentor (11)
Kenowa Connector mentor (11-12)
Summer Junior Golf Camp Assistant (9-11)
Summer Volleyball Camp Instructor (10-12)
Private Voice Lessons (9-12)
Volleyball (9-12)
Golf (9-12)
Honorable mention all-conference (11)
Academic all-state (12)
Student council (9)
Class Officer (9)
Summer Repertory Theatre (12)

ummm...I can't think of anything else right now....

as for advice...it depends on your major. If it's something really academic (science/math/engineering type)...take the hardest classes you can and do well....haha. If it's something artsier...take all the classes and extracurriculars you can that relate to it.

That sounds great. Random hookups are so much better than relationships. Relationships are just so hard to maintain... so stressful. Random hookups are exciting and keep one's needs maintained.

i'm totally fine with just random hookups. but how bad is the gossip afterwards?? do people who randomly hook up develop bad "reputations" or is everyone just chill about it? also do ppl mainly have friends with benefits or is it mainly just completely random?

people have friends with benefits...and random stuff...just depends on who you are....gossip isnt that bad, really...i mean, ppl will see you going off with someone, so people will know, but i only know a couple people who have reputations for being slutty...you've got to hookup a lot to get that at NU

thanks for the advice, kmac.
