Daunting Task: College Admisions

I am wondering if you can help me out and decide which college I should apply to and my chances to get in.

First, my stats:
-Currently UC GPA of 4.2, and end of junior year expected to be at 4.3.
-Taken AP Biology, AP Physics, and AP US History.
-Next year (senior year) I plan to take AP Chemistry, AP Composition, AP Stats, and AP Environmental Science.
-My UC rank is 5/615 and my normal rank is 10/615.
-New SAT- I got a 1690 on March 12th, but planning on taking it twice senior year where I plan to attain 1900+ (Ya, I know not to decent, but I’m not too good at standardized tests.)
-Taking SAT2s in May. Planning on receiving 700+ in Math 2c and Biology and 650+ in Physics.
-Attend part time-Center for Advance Research and Technology (CART) a Charter school: choosen as 1 of 7 schools as Mircosofts Center of Excellence, where I take the Bio-Medicince Lab at CART.

Now for my EC's.
-Been in CSF since 9th grade. (Trying to attain VP of CSF)
-In Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) since 10th grade, made it to state for competitions.
-Member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
-Part of my school's AAA(Tutoring club). Through this I have 50hrs and planning on earning more my senior year.
-Part of local church group. (9th-11th)
-Work part time at a local restaurant where I work 20hrs a week.
-Varsity tennis since 11th grade.
-Played 18 & Under “AA” hockey my 9th and 10th grade year.
-Main EC- Recently accepted into the UCSF Biomedical Research Internship (all free) for the summer of my junior year. Through this I will receive 180-240hrs of hospital volunteer service.

Colleges:
Major: (Pre-Med) Either Biology, Bio/Chem, or something along those lines.
Colleges: UCSD, UCLA, UCB, USC, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Darthmouth, Oxford or any other you recommend. My likely choice is UCSD if I don’t get into any ivies. I’d like your guys opinions and advice.

Thanks

i wouldnt keep my hopes to high with harvard, stanford, yale, oxford or princeton.

and id throw in a couple safeties as well.

What safeties would you recomemend? Would UCSD be considered a saftey?

ucsd is never a saftey. like. lower UC's and couple CSU's.

case western reserve?

with a <2000 SAT, Harvard is a VERY far reach. (Unless you have an excuse of some sort.)

I feel awful saying this, but even a 1900 isn't going to cut it at these schools. Have you spoken to your counselor? You can shoot for some reaches, but you really need some safeties on your list.

UCSD is not a safety. If you like them, I would add UCD, UCSB, UCSC, and possibly UCI to your list of UC's. They would all be good bets.

Most of the other schools on your list are "lottery schools" for every one, even those with SAT's above 2000. There are many excellent schools out there for pre-med that aren't lottery schools. Case Western was an excellent suggestion (but reachy with your current test scores). Pepperdine might be attractive to you, for example. Another great science and pre-med school in California would be the University of San Diego. While neither is a "good bet" school, they would be definite matches.

Safeties would be good.

The other thing to do would be to look at SAT-optional colleges, since all the rest of your resume is good. The fairtest.org site maintains a list of these colleges.

How does UCSB, or UCSC compare to other top UC's? And would going to a lower UC play a role in Medical School Admissions?
