David B. Sandor- Senior Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs

What you all thought of his appointment? It’s interesting that his background is in healthcare.

“Sandor most recently served as vice president for corporate communications and public affairs for Health Care Service Corporation, an independent licensee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) Association in Chicago. His responsibilities included media relations, crisis management, employee and executive communication, integrated marketing communications and social media positioning. Sandor also implemented a multicultural marketing campaign and initiated customer communications campaigns that resulted in significant market segment gains.”

@a1b2c3d5 ehh…I trust Sterk, but the appointment looks hell-a expensive. I suppose that she thought that if the guy can handle marketing and communicating a state administered health care program, he may be useful for Emory. At this time, they should be looking to do anything to improve marketing of Emory. Right now, the place acts shy as if there isn’t much to tell which is idiotic and clearly effects recruitment and reputation.

@bernie12
Agreed, these appointments do seem to be expensive, however they are not outside the realm other schools administrations operate in. I personally don’t know why there is a need for a provost and a Dean for every position, then there’s a newly appointed junior vice provost, there is soon to be a Dean of campus life as well. However other than those, for where Emory is going and for what we need, We certainly have needed a Dean of enrollment, a new Dean of Emory med school, and definitely a Dean of marketing that hopefully addresses the different schools in the university. So although there have been SEVERAL appointments, there certainly not all frivolous imho.

@VANDEMORY1342 Emory Medical School has already hired a new dean.

“Emory University has appointed Vikas P. Sukhatme, MD, ScD, a distinguished physician-scientist, as the new Dean of Emory University School of Medicine. He also will serve as Chief Academic Officer of Emory Healthcare and as Woodruff Professor. Sukhatme will join Emory Nov. 1, 2017. Emory President Claire E. Sterk joined Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and Emory Healthcare CEO Jonathan S. Lewin and Emory Provost Dwight A. McBride in making the announcement.”
