Davis acceptances are weird this year!

^ I called UCSD admissions and community colleges classes are included in your GPA, so please don’t jump to conclusions.

remember it also depends on WHO on the admissions board reads your application as well & whether THEY think you’re a good fit for the school/empathize with your situations/are impressed by your stats. =/

Thanks, Plasmolye, for the correction. I should have been more clear in my comments. I meant to say that a philosophy course taken “during your senior year” will not affect your UC GPA one iota. The first eight college courses taken during your sophomore and junior years will be counted in your UC GPA (and may count as “honors” courses).

exactly calcruzer

Do then factor in (as mentioned above) or even look at the # of UC campuses one applies?

Honestly, it’s not just UCD that’s having admission problems. All the other schools out there aren’t matching up to their profile acceptance percentages. The class of 2010 has simply the highest number of applicants for college… since we’re the peak of the baby boomer kids and all. The politics behind college admissions is so messed up as well.

I got into Davis.

2190 sat

 • 760 math
 • 690 crit reading
 • 740 writing

4.3 gpa

700 physics, 800 math 2.

I am going to attend UCSB instead though because my major is engineering related.

^For what engineering? Overall, Davis is better. For BE/BME, Davis is better. For EE and ChemE, SB seems to be better.

I have same choice… leaning to Davis.

^

Computer Science. College of Engineering @ UCSB > UCD’s College of engineering.

What’s your major?

Bio Engineering or Electrical Engineering, have not decided. Leaning towards Bio, though. I can do more things with it and maybe go with BioElectric or something.

As for the two colleges. UCD actually has a a better OVERALL Engineering school, because it is bigger and offers more types of engineering. While UCSB is a very good school for such majors as Electrical or Chemical Engineering. I am not sure which is better for computer science.

Also, the beach just seems like torture for engineers lol. I am not sure, need to see Davis Decision day before I decide. SB has some real nice programs.
