Davis Economics

I am planning to major in Economics. Can anybody tell me more about the faculty for Economics at Davis.

I am choosing between Boston University and UC Davis (Yeah, I know - 2 very different schools)

Also, which has a better student life? I am an International student and I’ve never been to the states before. Any help would be appreciated!

My brother was an Economics major before switching to Bio. As a freshman, he loves UC Davis  The Econ faculty is great, the community is great, everyone is super friendly/likeable/accommodating. Everything is top-notch at Davis, imo. Some people get bored after a while because of the small-town vibe, and for the most part, everyone is very studious. If you want to be in a small, friendly, quaint, college community, come to Davis. But if you want to experience the exciting, urban hustle and bustle Bosto n vibe, look more into Boston University. I think you’d be very happy at either school.

Boston University is way more prestige than Davis. My sister loved it there. And I agree with UCadmitted, the experience is GREAT at Boston. My sister already has a job and she’s been out of school for 3 months. Pick Boston.

Econ is way better at BU. Take it.

FWIW US News ranks the grad school programs for economics at BU at 24th overall and UC Davis at 32 overall.

BU ranks 41 in US News and UC-Davis ranks 39 for undergrad general rankings.

Overall they are very comparable schools academically so I would decide based on other factors.

May I ask what your GPA was? What kind of internships did you do? Are you Man Econ or regular Econ? Do you have any advice in how you got your job at Google? I’m curious because I will be transferring next year and I can’t decide on UC Davis or UC San Diego. Thanks for your time!
