DC++ Hub

So, I tried to get my D computer connected to the DC++ hub following the instructions someone else posted a link to. No luck

I saw another post that mentioned that maybe it just wasn't up yet.

Just wondering now that y'all are mostly back on campus if anyone has successfully been able to connect?

The message at the top of cornelldc.com says it’s not up yet, so I would go with that.

dang, I didn’t even see that up there.

Ok, well I think I have her all setup right so hopefully once it is online it will work for her. She has never been much into file sharing, so she really isn’t all that used to how that all works. I was hoping to take care of it for her while I was there.

Along those lines, has anyone used any programs for remote access to computers that will get through to the cornell firewalls? I was hoping to setup something to be able to troubleshoot my D computer when she has problems.

Just be careful with file sharing. Campus computing does monitor if any copyrighted material is shared. Record companies also watch college traffic very closely. Right now the method you want to use seems safe but it will probably be broken into at some point.

The thing us that the ingormation never leaves the Cornell network. Record companies watch what goes in and out but AFAIK they aren’t allowed into the network which I’m assuming is why it’s safer.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

urrite zfanatic…

if she has trouble she could probably just ask one of the many savvy guys (and girls) on her floor…

the tutorial dc++ webpage also has contact information…

when you first sign up for cornell resnet and then try to access dc++ it takes awhile b/c they have to update the DNS server (that matches your netid to your IP)
