i hate to say this but im having a pathetic college lifw.the college dce(delhi college of engineering) is not what i expected.i got through it in july 2011 but also got accepted in NTU(Nanyang technological university),singapore.my parents decided to send me to dce rather than ntu.i wanted to go to NTU.i seriously regret going to Dce its pathetic.the professors dont teach properly, the peers are jerks, etc etc.do u think i made a huge mistake choosing Dce over NTU????( i blame my parents as it was my parents decision NOT to send me to NTU)

Isn’t it the Delhi Technological University now? ;)

Huge mistake? No.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- DTU is a good university.
- NTU still gives you a slightly ‘international’ appeal while searching for jobs.
- You should make the best of wherever you are.
- Can you change your current situation?

I would rather not answer your question on commenting on your choice of choosing DTU over NTU.

EDIT: If you want a slightly ‘resident’ opinion on NTU, I suggest you contact MysticGohan. He’s from around Singapore, if I remember correctly. You should drop him a PM.

all i can do is apply to NTU this year but aome of my acquaintances are already there who consider me a jerk.so goin there next year only makes me a butt of jokes there.pls do comment whether my decision was right or not.PLEASE!!!

This sounds more like a Dear Abby letter.
How can it be your mistake if you didn’t get to decide?

You can not blame your parents either if you you depended on their financial support to go to NTNU.
Do you plan to go to graduate school?

Gee, anybody wonder where the problem is?

Mysticgohan is exactly from Singapore not around ;)

Haha! I hope you don’t mind me randomly name-dropping you in posts
You seem to have one of the best advices on this forum. After me of course ;)

Indeed your flattery is most welcome :P

@chubby cheeks yes plan to go to graduate school

Here are my 2 cents: stay put and play the cards you are dealt with as best as you can. Focus on getting good marks and start figuring out what you have to do to get to good graduate schools here or abroad. It is not that difficult.

This has been said before and I will say it again - if you get a masters or a phd, no one except the alumni association cares where you did your undergraduate studies.*Your last degree and the institution help you get your first job and after that it is your work experience, work ethics, interpersonal and communication skills that matter.

Also, don’t feel that you are stuck with the field you have chosen for your undergraduate study. People who did BE in civil engineering at 3rd tier engineering colleges have gone on to become very successful computer analysts and entrepreneurs.

@chubby cheeks thnx a ton for your help.i really appreciate it.btw the alumni association if the graduate school i go to or that of dtu wud be concerned???

lol, don’t worry about it.

@chubby cheeks i want to know!!!

You can always apply for a transfer. :)

I’d have hit the like button for this, if there were one. Maybe even twice, haha!

@yeahimthatguy i dont think they take transfer students in ntu in d 2nd year:’(

Well, you always have the option of US universities, if your grades are up.

not at all… ntu does not take transfers…
