Help regarding transfer

Hi.
I'd like to provide a background before posting my questions.
Last year, I passed class 12 (science, CBSE curriculum) and did not apply to any US college because I didn't know much about educational opportunities in the US. So the default path for me was to prepare for engg. colleges in india. I ruined my high school years preparing for JEE, AIEEE etc. I got admission into almost all good indian colleges (except the IITs, where I didn't get a major/branch of my choice) and NTU and NUS. I joined BTech (InformationTechnology) in Delhi College of Engineering. I had the impression that it's a very good college - next only to IITs, lots of projects and research opportunities etc. Now that I was actually a part of it, I realised it wasn't. DCE, and most Indian colleges, is over-hyped. It is a pathetic college; it feels like some sort of a compromise. After 3-4 weeks I left DCE, much against my parents' wishes. Now I didn't want to go to any indian college, 'coz they all suck, and NTU & NUS weren't an option either ( due to a 3 yr bond that I'd have to sign for fin. aid). All US college application deadlines were really close, besides, I wasn't aware of the admission procedure to US colleges, which is totally different from the indian method. So I hurriedly started applying to a few US colleges.

Though I hadn't applied for admission in US colleges in 2010, I had taken the SAT tests. Well, that was because I wrote all the exams that I came to know about from my friends. I was pretty confident abt JEE, and the rest of the exams were my backup options.

Now midway through my application, my parents refused to send me to a US college, except for University of Alabama. :(
That's because my mother's sister teaches there, so I wouldn't be all alone and there'd be someone to look after me. I definitely didn't want to got to an indian college and my parents wouldn't change their mind. So I left all other college applications and applied only to UA.
Now, as I don't have any other option, I'm headed to UA this fall. I've got a good amount of scholarship there, and it does seem much better than DCE. However, I do realise that it's not a very good college and I'm just not satisfied with it.
I want to know if I can take a transfer to a better college after one or two semesters, and if there are any colleges that would offer financial aid or scholarships in case of a transfer.

My 2010 SAT scores were: 680 reading, 800 math, 700 writing. Subject tests - 800 Math II, 800 Physics, 770 Math I.
TOEFL - 111 (i took the internet based test)
Also, last year I didn't have any kind of preparation for SAT/TOEFL as I was focussing only on JEE. I feel that with proper preparation, I can improve my SAT scores, if that would increase my chances of transfer.
Please help me.

To get a transfer to a good college concentrate on getting a great college gpa 3.5-4.0 range. Take the most rigorous curriculum possible. Check out the websites of the colleges you wish to transfer, prepare a list of safeties, reaches and dream colleges. The college websites have a wealth of information for transfers.

^ I second that. Course rigor and GPA matters immensely for a transfer.
