<p>I think that you have to also look at the grade in context. There is a difference between getting a "B" when you know that you have done your best and getting a "B" because you are capable of doing "A" work and receiving an "A" and you are just slacking off.</p>
<p>Based on your post, your D has had difficulty in the course all year. Take a step back, breathe as your D knows about her grades and is probably stressed (even though she may not be articulating it to you). </p>
<p>I agree with Karen's statement: "do you need me to help you study for your ____ exam?" . Try to support and remain supportive of your D and let her know that all you want from her is for her to do her best work.</p>
