I’m in high school and I’m debating between taking design engineering, which is a dual enrollment class, or creative writing, which is a normal class. I’m interested in both subjects but more interested in creative writing. Should I take the engineering class for the credit or just take creative writing? Do colleges even take DE credit or does it even look better at all? Btw my grades have been straight A’s except one b
Since you are posting under “Pre-med” I’ll assume you are thinking about medical school down the road. Any college course you take, even in high school as part of a dual credit program, must be reported to AMCAS when you apply to med school and will be averaged into your GPA. So don’t take a college course in high school unless you are pretty confident you’ll make an A.
Yes all colłege courses have to be reported if you apply to med school even if you withdraw, take an incomplete, etc. But med schools would know you took it in high school and it would have little, if any, impact on your chances at med school. Take the course your more interested in.
If i take a dual enrollment class and do pretty bad in it, will it affect my college gpa (vecause its a college class)?
Its offered at my highschool btw.
