Student football tickets are now available for incoming freshman, even if you have not registered yet. Tickets can be ordered on-line at:
[IOWA OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Tickets](http://www.hawkeyesports.com/tickets/iowa-tickets-footbl.html)
Have your student ID handy. Tickets and t-shirt are then picked up on campus.

Discount of (I think) $14 for joining S.T.A.T. (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) – that $20 STAT membership includes t-shirt, discounts, etc. Also helps connect students to activities on campus. Not sure if the $14 discount applies every year, or only as a freshman.

Thanks a lot, funyet! I did buy the ticket online this afternoon even though there’s presumably no risk in waiting for orientation (which is only 1.5 weeks anyway). I figure there’d be nothing worse than somehow screwing up the football ticket thing and winding up without one!

As for the S.T.A.T. membership, it looks like a good thing and I went to the alumni website to register my son. When buying the ticket I couldn’t quite tell if I’d registered him a second time or not. There was mention that “if you choose the STAT discount option you are joining STAT.” Anyway, it’s not a huge deal. Glad to have it nailed down.

What’s your understanding of single-game ticket sales? My wife, daughter and I are going down for Family Weekend and want to see the Wisc game. My understanding is that season tickets are still being sold and will likely sell out the stadium. Whatever pittance is left over goes on sale at the end of June. Otherwise, it’s stubhub to the tune of $130 apiece. Or am I missing something>???

Beastman, in the past there has been a block of seats held for families coming for Family Weekend. You have to sign up for FW, then you will be given a special code to buy your tickets online. We did this for the first 3 years - the seats were not great, but at least we could see the big screen.

Last year we bought our own tickets and had much better seats for the same price. (Unfortunately, it was the ill-fated Northwestern game, where Iowa’s QB was injured and the Hawkeyes lost.) Since last season was so great, and there are very high hopes for the upcoming season, individual game tickets may be hard to come by. We have bought season tickets, since it’s our son’s last year in marching band, and we want to see as many games as we can.

Speaking of marching band, here is a fun suggestion. Before home games, the marching band puts on a sort of pep rally in the rec center near the stadium. It’s lots of fun, and really pumps up the crowd. It starts maybe an hour and a half before game time. And whatever you do, don’t be late for kickoff! Iowa’s team entrance onto the field is not to be missed!

As you can see, I have become a die-hard Hawkeye fan over the past few years. And I graduated from Michigan State!

beastman – I do not have much to add to what jckazoo pointed out about tickets…I generally find that craigslist has better prices than StubHub or eBay, although I have no idea what the situation is for Iowa football or for tickets in general in Iowa City and environs. I am guessing that tickets will be harder to come by this season based on last year’s results and the larger freshman class. I did exactly what you did for the same reason – ordered my D’s season ticket today figuring better safe than sorry.

And as I told my D, I’ll be cheering for Iowa every Saturday, except when they play the Fighting Illini! I figure our family has doubled the probability of a Rose Bowl season now, (and for only $30K/year). Since we live in CA, it is cheaper and easier to get to Pasadena than it is to get to Iowa City for games!

By the way, I did not pay for STAT, as the web page seemed to indicate that student would be signed up and billed based on the football ticket purchase.

Go Hawks!

Hmm, we ordered tickets at registration, some combo of football and basketball with free t-shirts and other stuff, and there was no mention of STAT, unless I just didn’t read the form (good possibility). I don’t know the exact amount (high $200’s) because I haven’t paid yet, it will go on his UBill. We just figured we’d get football tickets when Iowa played Illinois through Illinois but now I see they don’t play each other this year. Illinois is at Iowa the next year.

Beastman, RweHFY and Jckazoo:

Mucho Thanks for the “heads-up” on the purchase of 2010 student season tickets for football. Ordered season tickets for our incomimg freshman D today. She’s pumped. Her orientation is on 6/28 & 6/29 and we weren’t sure tickets would still be available.

Our oldest S is a junior at UW-Madison and we’ve become good Badger Fans too. Been to quite a few games at Camp Randall. Can’t wait for the Badgers / Hawkeye game on on 10/23 at Kinnick.

Thanks again. Go Herky! (and Go Bucky too).
