So I know the deadline was the 1st of February.. But we haven't done taxes here yet. So we turned in the FAFSA by the 25th of January, but how long do we have to get the real information to the school?

I hope you submitted the CSS/Profile by February 1st - in my understanding that’s due at the same time as the FAFSA!

As for current tax forms, it is only through the CSS/Profile that schools request these things, and not every school wants them, although Georgetown was one of the schools that requested it for me. Basically, sometime soon after submitting the CSS/Profile, if any of your schools require copies of your most recent tax forms the College Board will send you an email about a service called IDOC with instructions and links on how to figure out what colleges requested - generally your parents’ W2, 1099, and income tax return forms. Once you have everything assembled, you mail it in to the College Board and they take it from there.

Yes, I think the returns go to them via the IDOC process. Anyone know how long it takes College Board to process the returns (so they can be viewed by the colleges)?

morality-sorry, I know nothing about the green papers.

colleges-it is very quick. I just checked my “status” yesterday and IDOC showed my documents ready for colleges to accept them…within just a few DAYS of snail mailing (and with all this snow delaying everything). I was amazed.

Morality - I don’t know, but I’ll bump for you. I don’t know anything about “green papers”, but … if you filed CSS Profile seems like you should have gotten the IDOC e-mail.

Are you in the US?
Did you check your spam?
Maybe you have few colleges and none of them WANT your documents? (My D had one college on her CSS Profile list who did NOT request her documents, so…?)

I found the “green papers” and it was actually a SAR, sorry for the confusion and my muddled memory. I think I have my issue figured out… the FAFSA isn’t taking my pin number, so I’m calling their help line tomorrow so I can sign and update my forms.

I did check my spam folder, but no IDOC email.

It’s just frustrating and really scary when there’s so much money on the line.

Well ask IDOC/Collegeboard. Because I’m sure you’re supposed to get your letter from CSS Profile in February. SEEMS like everyone got it around the same time. ??
