I have been accepted to my ED2 school, and now, I need to withdraw all my RD applications.
Does anyone know the deadline to do so? I couldn’t find it stated in the colleges’ website.
If you have already accepted your offer to your ED school you should do it immediately.
As soon as you know your ED college is affordable (you get the financial aid package not you are full pay) then you must accept that offer and immediately withdraw your other applications.
@happy1 and sj2727 - I also have some concerns with regard to this subject. Do you need proof of withdrawal?
My son had until mid Jan to accept a conditional ED. Within this time he was accepted to 3 more schools. After we clicked the accept button, he started to withdraw his applications (some had links on their websites, but for the rest it took him a couple of days to write a template e-mail, look for the right admissions counselors and so on). Regardless, 9 out of 10 schools sent an e-mail with confirmation, congratulations, but the last one, despite a phone call and then 2 separate e-mails, didn’t answer in any way. I know the mid year report will soon be sent by HS to just the ED college, and that would really be the end. Should we be concerned?!?
By the way, even after withdrawals and confirmation of withdrawal, the schools still sent acceptance to Honors programs, scholarships, requests to apply for FA and such!!!
@Busybee01 , I’d think as long as you have sent an email to the official admissions email you’re fine, it’s in writing. (Worst case is you get an offer and decline it immediately, referencing the previous withdrawal of application.)
I wouldn’t worry. As long as you have an email showing he withdrew it is fine. Your S won’t be held responsible if a college was notified of the withdrawal but does not process it in a timely manner.
FWIW my nephew got into college ED2 and withdrew via email from all his other schools. Nonetheless one of the colleges admitted him. He immediately turned down the offer and it was no issue.
@sj2727 and @happy1 - thank you for your responses! It’s reassuring to learn about similar circumstances with good outcomes. Funny though how, instead of fully celebrating and enjoying this stress free time, we find new things to worry about:)
I’d take this worry off your list.
And congratulations to all!
Thank you all
