I haven't gotten my transcripts mailed yet to one of the schools I'm applying to. When they say the deadline is March 1, does that mean the mailed parts have to /be there/ by March 1, or just postmarked by then? If they do have to be there, will they take them a few days late?

I’m of the impression that the documents must simply be “postmarked” by March 1, or whenever the school’s deadline is.

Deep Blue is right. As long as you have some proof that the documents were sent by March 1st, then your fine. It’s probably better to submit them earlier though, so that you can respond to any issues that might come up (such as your transcript getting lost in the mail).
