Deadlines

When a school has a deadline by say.... January 10th, does that mean everything must be filed away by January 10th or that it must be postmarked by than?

What happens if its slightly late?

The schools need to have all of the app by January 10th.

They will be lenient if things like recommendations are a little late.

Postmarked. If it’s late, then it’ll be considered a late application.

So as long as the postmark says December 10th it will be okay if it arrive say December 15?

Exactly right. They don’t start reading apps on the deadline so you’ll be fine.

Just be aware that SSAT does not record the postmark date for application materials processed through their service, so items sent to SSAT really should arrive by the deadline date, if at all possible.

Call each school separately (they don’t all have the same policy) and ask them. If you are taking the SSAT on 10-Jan, notify the school so the school will be aware that the score is pending.

Last year, DS took the SSAT on 10-Jan. We called the schools and asked about the deadline of the other application materials & interview scheduling. The schools were quite accommodating. But we CONTACTED the schools INDIVIDUALLY to get their permission.

i took the Jan SSAT last year to and didn’t call.
it was fine.
