“To be recognized on the Dean’s List, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.500-3.999 on a minimum of 12 semester hours taken with no grade below “C-.” All courses for the semester must be completed. A grade of “I” on a student’s record prevents consideration for this honor.”

Cum Honore: Complete the Honors College Program

Magna Cum Laude: 3.55-3.74
Summa Cum Laude: 3.75-4.0

NYU (updated)

The honors cut-off changes every year depending on the previous year’s graduates. For 2012-13 - on a 4.0 scale - they were:

Cum Laude: top 5% (ex: CAS 3.686, Steinhardt 3.696, Stern 3.623)
Magna Cum Laude: top 15% (ex: CAS 3.805, Steinhardt 3.815, Stern 3.719)
Summa Cum Laude: top 30% (ex: CAS 3.900, Steinhardt 3.903, Stern 3.827)

And I’m not sure about other schools, but for NYU Stern, a 3.6 gets you on the Dean’s List, and 3 consecutive Dean’s List in the first 4 semesters gets you an Honors Key.

At Purdue, you get dean’s list with an overall 3.5GPA and semester honors with a 3.5 in that semester alone. I don’t know about the others.

CSU Sacramento

Dean’s List: 3.0 (freshmen), 3.25 (others)

Oh yay, the average college of engineering GPA is the lowest which is in the 2.8x area.

At my school:
