<p>When do we find out what the cutoff is for the dean's list?</p>

<p>It’s usually between a 3.6 and 3.75 or so. Keep checking the site on T-Reqs that has past cutoffs…it should show up soon.</p>

<p>How come the cutoff for the fall is always lower than the one for the spring?</p>

<p>Could be due to the fact that by spring people will have taken more classes and, assuming that they did well (which they must have to get dean’s list), the added number of classes will bring up the GPA a little. That’s pure speculation though.</p>

<p>Well, the GPA that they use for Dean’s List is your semester GPA. My guess is people are more adjusted in the spring than they are in the fall…I remember my first semester freshman year was just a disaster, but by Spring I was much more confident and did much better.</p>

<p>Because if they made A+ 4.3’s, then Duke would be even more competitive/cutthroat. We don’t want to be like Cornell.</p>

<p>Congrats on the A+s. Did you work super hard or did you just take really easy classes?</p>

<p>Counting A+'s as 4.3 would’ve made your whole GPA count out of 4.3 instead of a 4.0 which would be unfair because all except one of my professors this semester refuse to give out A+'s even though people’s scores definitely were high enough.</p>

<p>lol wth more than 10% of the class get As in Econ 55 (with Nechyba)… it’s not that hard. oh btw i doubt nechyba even knows my name haha
and yea psych 11 is (was) taught by Whitfield. He wants everyone to get good grades so getting an A+ there was easier than getting an A in Econ.</p>
