Dean's Scholar?

I just got an email from NU saying that I'm a Dean's Scholar...what does that mean? Is it going to cover any financial aspects of my education at NU?

If this is in the engineering school, then it doesn’t mean scholarships. it means that you are a part of a group that has the honor of being advisors to the deans on student issues. You get to have regular lunches with them. The club also funds social events. Its a pretty cool thing - you get to make connections and have fun.

i’m also a dean’s scholar and murphy’s scholar within the mccormick school of engineering…it’s making it incredibly difficult to decide between northwestern and hopkins.

MIT Pwns, i feel your pain, for me it’s between U Chicago and NU

yeah i’m trying to choose between bme at jhu vs murphy/dean’s scholar at northwestern. i’m leaning strongly toward hopkins, what about you?

Yep, I’m debating between NU with Murphy Scholar and Rice with Century Scholar. I’m leaning toward Rice because of finaid and general feel of the school.

Leaning towards U chicago…unless I can get into ISP then idk…prolly still U chicago. I might be able to drop by as i;m at wildcat’s day right now

i just got this too… but i’m not exactly sure what it is? i’m leaning more toward duke and cornell though i think

^^^^
northwestern>>>duke>>>cornell

I think I will attend NU if this is Dean’s Scholarship rather than “Scholar”. :p

This kind of thing doesn’t help practically.

I wonder how many have got this “scholar” email?

@ dawncoming
i got it too
if you have personal attention from the school your attending, the opportunity to meet industrial leaders in person (no joke), and form a very personal relationship with faculty and the dean not to mention being literally gifted a leadership position amongst northwesterners; i dont get how all that doesnt help you practically
perhaps you should question yourself why your going to college?
if you want to fade away studying in a corner at a library or lost in research at a lab in college then yeah - perhaps a dean’s scholar thing and the holistic approach to education with leadership opportunities that nw offers isnt for you
