Debate or Band?

Here's my problem - I got 2nd at districts for debate, so I'm moving on to regionals. BUT! that same saturday, I have a band spring trip. I'll list some goods and bads for each and you help me decide :)

Band Trip:
-will have fun
-going all the way down to florida. and I've never been there before
-We're probably going to get a Superior rating, in which case our school will be getting State Honor Band status
-will miss debate and church youth group retreat

Debate:
-I'm the first from the school to advance to regionals.
-I think I have a shot at qualifying for States
-I worked frikin hard to get to regionals
-If I place at regionals, that's another pretty big award to put on my apps.
-If I choose debate over Band, I probably won't get marching band section leader next year.

What would you do?

what a fascinating internal debate! perhaps you should hire a band of decision makers to decide for you! ha ha ha!

…^

Debate ftw!!

DEBATE FTW hell yea

Which one do you care about more? Choose that one.

If it was me, I’d talk to my band director, (I’d be choosing debate.) and explain what’s going on, and why it is so important you stay. I’m assuming you’re not one of the only instruments in your section so your band can afford to lose you, then work really hard the rest of the year in band to make up.

I do both Band and Debate. We aren’t doing a band trip this year, so no conflicts for me.

I think it depends on your status in the band. If you’re a first chair player (or want to be), you should do that.

A conundrum. What shall we do, I wonder…

Part of me wants to attend the band trip simply to miss that dreaded “church youth group retreat.” But let’s not get irrational here. Going down to Florida to enjoy myself with a herd of acne-ridden trumpeters sounds just delightful, but I’m going to pass. Maintaining pleasantries with supplicating half-wits does not an enjoyable venture make. The debate promises to be entertaining. I am doing my own thing. Running my own show. Really accomplishing something. Sounds good to me. Glorious.

Debate

(I a major music freak but I would go with debate, more reward in the long run)
