Debating on whether or not I should retake SAT, thoughts?

I took the March SAT, got a 2230 (730 CR, 740 M, 760 W)
and I recently got my April ACT scores back, 35 C (34 E, 34 R, 35 M, 36 S)
I'm not sure if I should retake my SAT or not.
Should I just focus on my essays and my subject tests rather than spending time to study for the SAT again? Or should I give it a try?
I'd really appreciate some advice, or really even just your opinion on the matter. :)

A 2230 is fantastic! Depending on where you want to go to college, my answer can vary. But, I feel that once an applicant lands in that 2100+ range on their SAT test, they are in the batch for consideration for top colleges. Spending time and money on a retake for a 2230 will not be worth the increase. Your SAT score is phenomenal! Work on essays, community service, and subject tests to supplement that.

It really comes down to whether you’re happy with it or not, but there’s no real reason to retake since a 2200+ shows that you can get a great score, so you don’t really need a 2300+. For the most selective schools raising your score may help a bit, but probably not much as it’s already very good. So if you feel like you could have done better for some reason, then you may as well take it. But if you’re happy with your performance (and you should be :)), then leave it alone; it’s a great score. Good job!

I agree with the above posts. I also want to add that your ACT is excellent, so that’s probably what colleges will look at. I wouldn’t worry about upping the SAT. Just focus on your other test scores.

Thanks for the advice!
I have another question. For SAT II’s, I plan to take Chem and Math II (since most B.S./M.D. programs require this) but I’m not sure as to whether I should take US History or Spanish (without listening because I’m horrible at that).

The best bet for SATs is to take the ones related to your area of study. After that, I would say to go with the ones that you are strongest in. So if you’ll do well on the history or Spanish, it certainly couldn’t hurt.

If you are strong in US History it would be a good one to take to show you are not just strong in math/science.
