My first SAT was in march and I got a 2030 (710 CR, 700 M, 620 W) with no prep. I studied my ass off for 3 or so weeks before the June sat and got a 2280 (750 CR, 790 M, 740 W). I don't know if I should retake or not. The reasons why I would take it again are mostly just hoping for an awesome super score of 2300+. Also is the fact that math was usually lowest and i got lucky on the last one, and usually could get higher CR and writing scores. But then again it'll be during school not like in June when no teachers care after the AP's were over and I had a lot more free time. Plus I also will be worrying about college apps and stuff, but what do you guys think?

Who gives a crap? There is absolutely NO difference between a 2280 and a 2300. Once you score over 2200+ its really pointless to retake it. I would focus more on your personal statement and your extra-curriculars now.

Unless you are a workaholic, and love taking SAT tests, which I highly doubt you are, there is no need to take another SAT test. Try taking some SAT Subject Tests if you love testing so much.

That is a pretty awesome score, so don’t retake it if it will affect your ability to write good essays/do meaningful extracurriculars! It might give you an extra edge to have 2350+ but it’s not worth it unless you think it’ll really improve your app (e.g. if you had lower scores on SAT 2s). Also, depends where you’re applying. If it’s HYPSM, you’ll probably not improve your chances much given how hard it is already…

^^didn’t know my scores on subject tests would have affect. I got a 750 Math ii, and a 700 on US. Does this change anything on whether or not i should retake the SAT 1?

No, there is no need for you to take it just so you can get 20 more points. But thats just my opinion.

Not unless you felt strongly you could get 2350+, but even then it wouldn’t even help much
