Hello, everyone, just wanted to let you know that the 12/08 SSAT scores are out online! I'm happy with my scores... hope you are too. If you're comfortable with sharing, you can share your scores... As the starter of this thread, I'll share mine...

800 Verbal (99%)
800 Math (99%)
800 Reading (99%)

Just saying though, this is a vast improvement over my scores for the November test, so if you are really unhappy with your scores, consider re-testing. However, if your scores are over the "average" or are within the realistic range of scores at your schools, then just send them in and don't fret! The SSAT is only one part of deeming your academic admissibility (is that the right word... admissibility??)

great job HeartY! I know parents are suggesting re-considering a list if my scores are really low… my score only increased by 3% and it’s extremely low. Should I just cross of the HADES schools off my list?

@choatehopeful yes, it is within that range, but is a little lower than average

@smiley Depends how low ‘extremely low’ is. Generally the SSAT isn’t so important in decisions, but consider if these schools will really be right for you. Also, you don’t necessarily have to cross all top tier schools of, but consider looking at more schools with slightly less competitive entry and aiming at them instead.

Below 70%… I just checked my scores from last time and it actually decreased haha. And I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine with your scores! What schools are you applying to?

To choatehopeful734: I’d say that 84% is fine, at least in what I have heard. With strong ECs, essays, etc. anyone is a strong candidate. What I think you should focus on, if you are appplying to HADES schools, is what everyone else on this forum always says: Show the admissions office how wonderfully YOU you are… how you are different… why you want to go to x school… just my piece of cake

To smiley66: PLEASE don’t cross of a school based on your SSAT score. See my reply to choatehopeful for my advice…

65%, I studied more than I did for my old SSAT and somehow did worse. I just feel a bit pathetic, what schools we were applying to rode on what my score was and I basically plummeted.

@bsroxmysox well I hope we both get into our choice schools regardless of our scores. Thankfully they don’t look at only ssat’s or I don’t think I would stand a chance against some of these other people

I did better on the verbal section than I thought I would, but getting one question wrong on the reading dropped me to 98% in that section. Pretty happy overall though!

@confusedonhades haha right, I was absolutely guttered (no I’m not english, I just watch too much UK shows -_-) when I saw it. So was my dad, so it’s going to be pretty hard to convince him to add maybe one more school to the list.

I did 1% better than last time, but my math went up by 11 points and verbal dropped by six. Reading stayed the same. I sent both of the scores. Do you think they will look at both and see the better scores from each?

Does anyone know how many students take the SSAT each year? I have been trying to research this, to no avail. Obviously, there are also a number of grade levels taking it.

By the way, I have noticed that for the past few months, the percentiles for reading have been quite low. Getting only 2 wrong lowered your percentile to 96%, and even just having one wrong was a percentile of 98%… In past years, reading percentiles as compared to the actual scores were much higher…

Maybe this year, some great critical readers (is that the right term… “critical readers”???)

From what I understand, the SSAT has been completely re-done. This might account for lower scores (in general). Of course, EVERYONE on CC is in the 99th percentile, so it might be hard to tell there is a new test. LOL :-)
