DECA vs. FBLA

What are the differences between the organizations? Also, if my school has a FBLA that really doesn't do much, it there a point in starting a DECA?

DECA is more about marketing and subjective business interaction (managment, advertising and stuff like that), while FBLA is more fundamental and concrete business stuff(economics, accounting and social science related to business, for example).

The biggest effect of this is that their competitions may cover different fields. For example, FBLA has economics/global commerce competition while DECA has hospitality management and other marketing stuff. And DECA competition usually have much more role playing than FBLA events.

That's the extent of the differences as I know it. Plus, I've heard that FBLA is a lot more strict and serious than DECA.

bump.......

bump................

FBLA is better.

That's all you need to know.

Well, I'm in DECA and I have to say its tough at the beginning cause you only have 10 minutes to plan your proposal before you present it. I don't know what FBLA is but I believe DECA has a larger variety of categories you can compete in. DECA also requires you to do a multiple choice test based on your category and hardly anyone gets over 80% on them.

So if you like role-playing, go start DECA

I think FBLA is better because at my school you have to take a business class in order to do DECA
