DECA?

Hello forum!

I would love to eventually go to a top B-school and work on Wall Street one day. My plan as of now is to try and attend a top private college for UG and major in Econ or International Relations.

Now, I was not interested in business until the middle of last year (soph year). I am now a junior; problem is, I haven't done ANYTHING business related yet, except start my own Internet class program at my library (doubt that even counts as businessy). I also started an Entrepreneurship Club with some buddies, which will likely start in the middle of this year. I really want to join DECA for the fun of it, but I worry immensely that it would seem like resume-padding.

What would CC do?

PS: I am a top 1% student, taking AP Econ right now with an A+ (a whole 2 weeks into the school year), and my school is actually ridiculously good at DECA and sends about 50 per year to nationals.

“I haven’t done ANYTHING business related yet,” Stay good at math. You’ll be fine.

It would be padding if you joined senior year. Junior year is just fine to start a new activity. Plenty of kids drop old activities and start new ones junior year - my kid dropped varsity soccer and took up theater instead and had a lot more fun. If you’re interested, go for it.
