Deca?

How good is DECA when it comes to college.
Personally, I love DECA and everything it stands for. Especially at our school, Cypress Bay who dominates in competition.
With that said, how good is it to be involved in DECA, compete and win, etc.

For example,
(PLease understand im not trying to show off, i just want a perspective on how these things are seen at the admissions office)

Freshman year- just a member, was involved

Sohphomore Year-
ran the entrepreneurship promotion service project at my school, placed at regional level (the dont have 1st,2nd,etc at regionals), got fifth in the state
ALso was director of the DECA leadership comitee at my school

Junior Year-
Placed at regional level (once again no 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc), got first in the state, competed at international competition. ( Entrepreneurship written event- create your own business)

Next year (senior year)
Got appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at my school. I am the second person to ever get this job. The last one was five years ago. This is a big deal because im over the president, and ill include this in my essay.

Also plan to compete and go further than last year.

Oh i may add this is Florida.

So how does DECA look for colleges?
and how do these stats stack up respectively?

Thanks!!

Bump I need some perspective

I’m also curious on this topic. I’m vice president of my school’s DECA and i’m planning on being president next year. I love DECA but i feel like it will be somewhat overlooked by colleges.

Btw, Cypress Bay… didn’t your school have a reality show at one point? Sounds farmiliar.

First of all, I wouldn’t go listing my school so openly like that because it may compromise your anonymity (maybe that’s not important to you, though, depending on what kind of stuff you are posting on here). Secondly, I think DECA is a great extracurricular. If you are passionate about it and do well in it and are very involved, it will be viewed positively by colleges. Competing at the national (in the case of DECA, international) level is impressive for almost any EC. I think you’re certainly on the right track.
