On the Duke website, it says that the deadline for Duke Student Supplement (Form A) is December 10 for interview/regular decision. Does that mean I only need the supplement to the common application submitted by 12/10 but that I can still turn in the common application by 01/02?

Yes. But be aware that this does not GUARANTEE an interview. It depends on whether there is alumni available in your area.

This is going back 4 years now, but I submitted everything in January and still got an interview. I wouldn't worry about the deadline too much.

Not a problem.
I think it matters by the area too.
I submitted everything a day or two after Christmas (two years ago) and got an interview.

well i live in SC so if i turn everything in on January will I have good chance to get an interview?

Hmm...I think it's more about the specific location (the city/town) that you're from. I submitted my supplement a few days before the ED deadline but I still got an interview. If you live in a urban/suburban area in SC, then you might have a chance of getting an interview even if you submit your supplement in January. But it's tough to predict.... If you really want an interview, I'd say submit the supplement early just to be safe.

on another place it suggests i need common application and supplement by december 10? anyone know for sure that it is just the supplement needed by december 10?

Only the supplement needs to be turned in by December 10th. The Duke admissions website has a chart with all the deadlines: Duke University Admissions: Deadlines It specifically indicates the early deadline for supplement if you want an interview. I don't think any other sources can be more trustworthy than the Duke admissions site.

im from SC too, and i live in a pretty big city. i did ED and turned it in way after the October 19th deadline and still got an interview. It definately depends on the location.

do you guys think it hurts at all if you do not send it before the tenth and thus do not get an interview. Does not requesting an interview hurt chances?

Does the payment have to be in by the interview deadline, along with the supplement or the application?

Only students who meet these deadlines will be contacted by a Duke alumnus/alumna to see if they would like an interview.

hmm..so doesn't it prtty much mean that u WON'T get an interview if u dont meet this deadline?

also, when we r talking abt supplements..taht also means the essays too rite? (i mean the ones like the optional ones and short answers..)

^ No, you can still get an interview even if you don't submit your supplement. Like I said before, it all depends on where you live. If you submit your supplement early, then they'll definitely check to see if there's an alumni nearby. This is the only way that you can ensure that they try to get you an interview. And your second question, yes, it includes the supplement essay(s).

Many people didn't get an interview even though they submitted their apps before the deadline (for ED), and many got an interview although they submitted it after the deadline (includes me!). It really all depends on whether or not there are interviewers in your area, and I wouldn't worry if you don't get an interview. It doesn't really matter either way.

if i was to get an interview, around what time is the interview? i will be away during the holidays

does not taking the interview come off badly to the admissions committee?

quick question, i got an email from duke saying that EITHER the supplement part OR the common app part must be turned in. Is this true, or am i just reading disabled?
This is all by dec 10th of course for eligiblty for an alumni interview

I got the same e-mail, trickstylez. It's one or the other. They just need to get it in their database to send out the interviews.

if the deadline is dec 10, then does it include the whole dec 10 day
or do we have to turn it in before 12 am dec 10th?

^haha....i like these kinda questions...wonder how the admissions ppl think when they get that kinda questions..lol
